Matt
Amongst the very minor shortfalls of the Tamiya Spitfire MkI is the hand cranking hole and info plate is missing from the starboard engine cover. This is a noticeable feature in most era pictures, especially as the info plate stands out from the camo. In sorting out my references for this upcoming build I found a couple of pictures to share. Starter hole and plate goes here Closeup for the pedants. Cheers, I figure a small rectangle of grey decal would suffice. Matt Edited September 7, 2005 by Matt

madcow
It'd be fun to make a diorama with a mechanic having a rope tied to his waist  Ricardo Edited September 7, 2005 by madcow
Matt
Is this your anorak........ Doc Oh I wish I could don the old anorak, grab the thermos of tea and spend my free time photographing the minutia details of Spitfires. This was from a very hurried visit to the RAF museum with a borrowed camera on my last trip back to the UK. This particular feature (or lack thereof) just bugs me because it is so evident in most period photographs. Cheers, Matt
Dr Fester
Seriously though is this detail on every Mk.I Spitfire? Seems a big omission from Mr T ! Doc

Mk Is with starter hole/ info plate. http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/images/15jul2.jpg http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/images/18aug2.jpg http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/images/29jul2.jpg Mk IIs without. http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/images/28oct1.jpg http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/images/30oct1.jpg http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/images/31oct2.jpg Who knows what Tamiya used for research. After all, those flash suppressors were removed pretty early on. Maybe they used a Mk V and fudged the rest of it. M.
