P47ACE503
I paint the overall aircraft with enamal paints, only. So, I will first primer with Mr. Surfacer 1000, then paint color, then gloss then decal, then weather with pastels, then final clear coat. Is this the right order of these things? I just want to be sure! Bill B)

Bob Rock
I always weather with pastels after flat coat. They seem to work better on flat surface rather than glossy.Just seal them with another coat of flat after you are done, and be careful with fingerprints, pastels love to show 'em (don't ask how I know ). MoFo
Wouldn't bother priming, but based on what you said... Mr. Surfacer Colour coats Gloss Decal Gloss (optional, but it does help blend the decals in) Matte Pastels Final clear coat (light coat, just to seal the pastels)

On the sealing of decals, I typically use a lacquer clear as it partially dissolves the decal onto the painted (lacquer) surface. If you are using acrylics, I think the suggested by MoFo is fine. I would also do a flat coat at the end before pastels, or for glossy aircraft, another gloss coat after the oil wash.
