RKic
I guess this makes it official. I have crossed over to the darkside and began building a jet. Right now its just the IP. What do you guys think? Excuse the image quality, im still experimenting with what'll work Ralph btw. this is shot through a small ship rigging magnifier Edited September 29, 2005 by RKic
A6BSTARM
If you are going to be doing an A version then you need to delete the CRT above the radar scope on the B/N side. Those weren't installed on the A's only on C's and E's. Otherwise it looks good.
RKic
alright. is there anything that goes in its place, or should I just paint over it?
jrallman
not sure whats supposed to go there, but i think a hula girl bobble doll would be perfect
volzj
alright.is there anything that goes in its place, or should I just paint over it? Ralph, No. Just scrape off the raised detail and paint the now blank area black.
RKic
Ok, did some more work. This isnt so much a show off pic as a question. This is the left wing root. As you can see the bottom sticks out far past the top. Both top and bottom fit well with the root fragment molded into the fuselage. Whats going on? Should it look like this? In the back you can see some of the office nearing completion and the wiring work I've done on the rear deck (or whatever it should be called) This is my first scratchbuilding attempt. I did all of it with stretched sprue, a telephone cable, and some wire from my girlfriend's jewelry making stash close-up pics to come when the office gets finished
volzj
Ralph, Yes, the wing is correct that way. Not the best picture but:
RKic
more progress. The office is finished! not much to note here, as you can see, I fixed the IP (thanks again guys for pointing that out), and am almost finished with the wiring behind the seats. Used stuff from around the house for the hoses and wires. This pic doesn't do it justice, and the thing still needs a good drybrush. The tub is OOB, painted grey, then black. Drybrushed with white, then certain buttons and knobs were picked out with a toothpick using a brighter white, red and yellow from a childrens acrylic paint set. The same process was used on the IP. The pilots stick was shortened, still looks too large, but I dont care at this point. The B/N's stick was made from a modified handhold left over from a 1/35 M3 Stuart kit. Seats are almost OOB, just added some belts from masking tape. A few folks emailed me asking how i did the CRTs. They're just painted MM acryl Russian Armor green and then given a coat of future. Not as nice as photo film but much simpler to do. Next step will be to paint the bombs, and assemble the drop-tanks. Fit on these is absolutely awful, and im not looking forward to the two yellow rings that will need to be painted on each bomb! :P PS. How old is this mold? The detail isnt bad, but there's lots o' flash and the fit kinda sucks too
RKic
and here's the cockpit. Comments are welcome
RKic
Main colors are on! Still need to get the wing leading edges and a few touch ups. The black trim around the windscreen needs some filling and touching up too. Then its back to the paintshop for a coat of Future, decals and a wash.
RKic
midway through the wash. Notice the error? I'll need to find or make a "U" decal somehow
