Andy Mullen
EA-6B Prowler (VAQ-139 "Cougars") - Hasegawa [1/72] Started 25/09/2005 Intended Livery - Superscale #72620 [1990 Desert Shield] Whilst researching the weapons / stores used during Operation Desert Shield I have broken out the box and started to take parts off the sprues for cleanup. Most of the parts removed from their sprues and cleaned up. After cleanup of the parts above I started to dry fit the cockpit pieces. The seat looked very bare so I dug into my aftermarket stash and pulled out some GRU-7 Seats. Unfortunately they are too wide to fit in the cockpit tub, without either hacking the tub or seats to bits. So I settled for using the kits seats and adding the ejection handles and some tape seat belts. Assembly of the cockpit, fuselage , wings and tail stabs went well, and seams were cleaned up. Andy Mullen
A-6E Intruder (VA-196 "The Main Battery") - Italeri [1/72 Started 25/09/2005 Intended Livery - Superscale #72620 [1990 Desert Shield] Most of the parts removed from their sprues and cleaned up. After painting of the cockpit and seats, the main fuselage was assembled. Fit was good except for the instrument panel and cockpit rear decking. The IP needed some serious sanding to fit under the coaming, and the rear decking had to be bent down to fit flush with the fuselage. The kit seats look OK so the only addition I made were the lap belts made from Tamiya Tape. Heres a shot of the aircraft as of today. volzj
Andy, I think Boeing might want to check into the efficency of your assembly line technique. Makes me want to dig out that sheet. Looks nice so far!

Andy Mullen
Just a quick update on my build. I finally have a selection of lo-viz stencils for the Intruder/Prowler (the Superscale Sheet don't have any and the kits are all hi-viz), so hopefully should be able to show some progress next week. Andy Mullen
Howard, no filler on the Intruder, I only needed a slight amount of Mr Surfacer around the engine exhausts due to my own incompetence :D Getting close to finishing these babies Intruder - Oil wash and Pollyscale Matt completed, now in the final stages of assembly. Prowler - Oil wash completed, just waiting for it cure a bit and then a Pollyscale Matt Varnish will be applied, ready for final assembly.
