Hasegawa F-111G Kit

Recommended Posts

I do believe that the most important thing is the extended wings which as far as I remember they both share. I also recall some differences between the plough intakes but dont quote me on this. Maybe some of the other guys could clear this up for ya.

The F-111G was a redesignation of the FB-111A after they were transfered over from SAC. The F-111G kit is the same kit as the FB-111A kit. In fact, the F-111G "Air Combat Command" kit I have actually comes with the instruction sheet for the FB, with a supplemental sheet for the new decal markings (which are unfortunately wrong as the aircraft depicted was really an F-111F). There were a few differences between the G and the C, like the air intakes but I was more interested in airframe differences like the hump just forward of the canopy for the navigation equipment, it was percular to the FB-111A, there were a couple of other lumps n bumps...

I was just wondering if its possable to build an FB out of the box because there are no after market kits for the FB model.

In the Hasegawa 1/72 kits, the top of the forward fuselage in front of the canopy is a separate part. All kits have a "plain" insert used on non-FB F-111s on a common sprue. The FB-111A and F-111G kits have an additional sprue with the "humped" insert (with a clear disk to represent the astrotracker window) on the sprue that includes the different tail fairing used on the FBs. Other new parts in the FB/G kit are different pylons and engines.

HTH.
