Supertom
Hi everybody, I was wondering if anyone here knows how to strip chrome off plastic pieces (besides scraping). I'm trying to get my Silly Week project done! Thanks!!!
Andy Mullen
Tom soak in diluted household bleach for about an hour. Worked for me on the chromed wheels of a car kit recently.
Old Blind Dog
Once again. . . Fingernail Polish Remover (acetone free variety) which is available in large quantities just about anywhere for next to nothing. Bathe the parts to be stripped in FNPR for 4 to 12 hours (be careful as it will sometimes soften the plastic) then take an old toothbrush and rub off whatever plating remains (most of the plating will simply slough off in the bath). Once the parts are stripped, soak them in some warm soapy water (I use Palmolive dish detergent) to remove any sticky residue from the FNPR and you should be good to go!
