Griffin
Here the topic's beginning , fallen in the old files : PK-402 Wellington Mk.X/XIV It' really time to hurry to paint and glue something . An overall picture : Flying surfaces almost finished but fuselage needs pilots ( hard to paint those tiny things ) and minimal interior fitting, to my taste . And I loose to much time to fill those tranches ... really not a good idea .
Max
Little update but great work...
Griffin
Less than a month to finish, ouchh, i'm too slow ! What's new : But the Tamiya's thin glue seems to bite the Matchbox plastic with ease : Did someone had this kind of problem ? Hope to close that fuselage next week ...
Griffin
Progress so far: No hope to finish in one day . It's my first try for a group-built, as the main idea was to make something not "overengineered"..... only alf a success ..... but it was a perfect occasion to try some tips and technics , like the "Klirisation" prosess for clear parts and many more . :D Lots of nostalgia and beautifull Matchbox builds around ! Laurent
Hello Griffin. The painting of the pilots is out of this world ! They look like 1/35 figurines ! Could you please summerize how you have painted them. You're not the only one who won't have finished by tomorrow... <_< Laurent
Bennygmanuk
Hello Griffin. The painting of the pilots is out of this world ! Laurent I'd second that; oils I assume? You sir, are an artist! <_< Steve.
Griffin
Thanks for your kind replies ! In fact, not oils but Prince Auguste Acrylics for brush painting. As it is all new experiments to me, more than one time it ended with poor results, many washes and try again process before what they look like now ... Begins with heads base coat , enlightmentswith very thinned color , almost water, followed with a wash of some dark brown in recesses and the bodies next . A first attempt An other one better The last , to see what now, is half disapeared in the fuselage ... those pilots are from the Stranraer, with minimal "update"; really beautifull for an old fashion kit ! Julien (UK)
Great looking pilots there, Julien
peebeep
I showed my young son the pics, then I showed him a couple of Matchbox crew so he could see how large they actually are - his jaw nearly hit the floor. So did mine when I saw the photos. This may be a stupid question, but Griffin do you use a magnifier? peebeep Edited March 31, 2006 by peebeep
Griffin
What could be somewhat stupid, when you're no more a teen-ager, is quickly loosing eye-sight at trying model building without some kind of magnifier , a most usefull tool, after glue and paint . It helped also , avoid some jumping cyano glue ( you know, when you try to clear that *¤§## of tube openning ...) or other foreign objets, go direct into the eyes ... By the way, right now, it's the last day here ! Gerald
