Well, here's the result of 2 days work - I've got the fuselage together, and the wings together (but not attached). This is going to be a 100% OOB build with kit decals for VA-75 in 1965.

Since I'm mentioning the wings, the slot to fit the wings to the fuselage needed quite a bit of carving out to fit the apparently oversized tabs on the wings. Apart from that evreything seems to be dry fitting quite nicely. I can't see much point to the level of detail that fujimi put into the exhausts with detail all the way to the engine past two turns in the exhaust pipe. You'd need an endoscope to see all that way  .

Then I've never entered any contests, but I'd expect even that is beyond the pen light nazis.

Joe, it is a nicely detailed little kit, and not too hard to build. Murph, as for the flaps/slats thing, I think I'll do them retracted, for a minimum effort build. Perusing some of the Walk Arounds here on ARC, the only pics that I've been able to find with Slats/flaps down are for a Taxying aircraft. Yeah, that's the real reason, not any laziness on my part at all!

Man! This kit has some fine engraved detail all over the place. I didn't quite get it all in place for the port side intake and my repairs (shown) have pretty much obliterated it all. Now will be the time for some careful scribing I suppose. Wings and all the major airframe parts are attached (nasty gaps at top of wing) so it's lookig good to be finished in time still!
