Randy Wise
Any thoughts concerning this debate on Starship Modeler regarding the angle (or lack there of) of the front manidibles on the Fine Molds Falcon. I have to tell ya the truth, I see the discrepancy on the 32" movie model, but not on the 5' version. At least not in the photos I have. My "gut feel" tells me to leave the kit parts as is, but it's an easy fix if it's warranted. Randy http://starshipmodeler.net/cgi-bin/phpBB2/...pic.php?t=34924
spellbinder99
Honestly, I am going to leave my kit parts alone....the whole debate smacks of people trying to stake their claim to fame on being the one to find fault in the FM kit. I defy anyone to pick a fault without sitting there and edlessly photoshopping comparison pictures. But that is my opinion, other can and will vary. kylwell
While I did spend several hours replicating the damage I'm refusing to angle in the mandibles. Or fix the landing gear doors or the entry ramp.
kylwell
And then there was the argument over on FSM or HobbyTalk (canna remember which) on whether or not is was really 1:72 scale. *sigh* somepeople have way too much time on thier hands that could be better spent building models. Randy Wise
Hey Guys, I think you nailed it Tony, people are trying too hard to be the first to find somethign wrong with a truly amazing model kit (aka. Brett Green and the Trumpeter F4F Wildcat). Kylwell, I can't believe that there are some who would waste the time and energy arguing about weather or not a fictional craft was actually "in scale". Isn't any Sci-fi model ever created "in scale" of some sort? Anyways, one thing that I did learn through the whole exercise of scrolling through the Starship modeler forums is this: the Fine Molds Millenium Falcon represents the vehicle as she appeared after Episode #4. At Mos Eisley the Falcon had two less landing pads. I guess Han Solo spent some of his reward money beefing up the landing gear. There goes my idea for a Mos Eisley spaceport diorama. Better yet though, I could place the Falcon on the landing platform at Bespin. Now when is that darn mailman going to deliver my kit? It should have been here by now. I just cleared my bench, I have my references, the next three months are clear, all I need is a model kit. Randy
Grizzly
Hey Guys,I think you nailed it Tony, people are trying too hard to be the first to find somethign wrong with a truly amazing model kit I'm 100% with you. Some topics in SM Forum are a nest of geeks. No kit is perfect, but cutting the mandibles of a 160 bucks kit (with the risk of making a mistake) :D is incredible (and I would say stupid). I hope you'll get your kit soon. patience ! Edited February 23, 2006 by Grizzly
