Spaced Marine
I am hoping the bulge on top of the right intake is the gun port... Please don't let us have made the same mistake of the Phantom again...
Keith Diamond
the F-35A and C are supposed to have an internally mounted gun, while the F-35B would have to carry one.
Bela
Ive read somewhere that development has stopped on the "a" model, couldnt confirm that by consulting the lockheed site though.
Josh1971
As a genuine matter of interest- why would they stop production on the A, but not the B or C? JB
Vale Deah
It was brought up a while back on ARC as well. The talk was to scrap the F-35A plans to save on developmental costs. The problem is though, that the F-35A is the version that most partners in the JSF program are seeking to acquire. Those seeking the F-35 would then have to most likely acquire the F-35C, and adapt them for use at land bases, or other modifications (refueling probe etc...) From what I understand though, that was just a rumor.
Aggressor Supporter
the F-35A and C are supposed to have an internally mounted gun, while the F-35B would have to carry one. Keith, The F-35A model, the USAF version, is the only version to have an internal 25MM cannon. The B & C will not and will have to carry a gun pod if they want one. The gun port on the A model is on the upper left intake side. It looks good, at least to me. Like a Raptor "Jr." I think we'll get a better perspective of it when it gets painted. Keith Diamond
ah, thanks for the correction. I was checking around on the LM site, and I guess I overlooked that one.
