Two different kits really. The Bandai 1701A is a small 1/850 scale kit that is prepainted, snap together, and has an internal lighting system powered by 3 AA batteries in the base. The paint job is actually pretty good, but there are some gaps where the parts join together. Not too challenging, just cut out the parts from the sprue and press them together. It does look nice, but it is somewhat small for the price you pay.

The PL kit is a much larger 1/350 scale normal injection kit that you have to glue and paint. It's large, heavy, and impressive, but you are on your own for painting it (and lighting it if want). A company called Aztek Dummy make vinyl masks for the kit to help you paint the Aztek pattern, but it's another $50 or so on top of the price of the kit.

So it gets down to your choice. Do you want a small kit with lights that you can just slap together in a day or so without using glue or paint, or a larger kit where you have to do all of the work?
