olemanjoe
yesterday was my lucky day, sitting in my worksttation i saw a UH1 of the Australian Army circling less than 500meters away. Also driving back saw a Australian Army Blackhawk with engines turning, it was sitting just beside the Shrine of Remembrance here in Melbourne. BTW today is the start of the Commonwealth Games here in Melbourne...
Dan 88
While I was painting my model in my backyard, I saw an HH-65 today while conducting some training exercise. It was cool to see, because the helicopter would lower the guy into the boat while both of them were moving. Here's a pic. Yes I know it's bad, but you get the idea.

Cobrahistorian
FF, You betcha... hover button is a myth propagated by flight students who have figured out how to hover and is used to taunt underclassmen who haven't gotten there yet or haven't figured it out. I got it today. Everything just sorta clicked and I began to FEEL the helicopter instead of fighting it. Makes a world of difference when you relax. Get to do Standard Autorotations tomorrow... WOO HOO!!!! "Express elevator to hell... goin DOWN!"
mkimages
Looks like Langley is about to get a new Raptor. Caught this today from work. Normally the chase is an F-16. When the Eagles show up, it's usually to escort a new plane to it's new home. I didn't hear them 'til late so I missed them overhead. Also caught an F-16 in the morning, a Hornet takeoff mid-afternoon, and the usual C-130 doing laps as the sun went down. :)
lodni_k
Yesterday evening got to see a C-40A land & park pretty up close. I happened to be in a Legacy Hornet doing a compass swing @ the time ( and freezin' my rearend off!!) :)

For posting something you saw today... ~sigh~ I'm not anywhere near an airport, so all I can do is drool over the pics everyone else posts up. OK Animal - I tried to paint a nice visual image with words last week, but if it's photos you want, its photos you'll get - here goes: Yesterday - 14 March - How about Bulldogs, Badgers, Blackhawks, an Orion and a Rhino The Bulldog - (354 FS - Just back from a 6-month dusty deployment) Edited March 15, 2006 by RipVW

RipVW
The Orion - Bu No 152723 on its final - final. The Orion taxied into AMARC and shut down for the last time. We harken the end of the Tomcats, but there are machines arriving every day for their final flight into history - this was but one of them . . .
RipVW
Lastly - the Rhino - this is the Collings Foundation F-4D SN 65-0749 (Ex-Jayhawk ANG) that got a new lease on life repainted as Steve Richie's famous 463. The Phantom was in AMARC for paid maintenance and refresh for the upcoming airshow season. Frank Romagia took her up for her first FCF since the maintenance work was completed - I was lucky enough to be there in the right place at the right time with sufficient sun to get the photo. Enjoy the photos - as always - happy to share. (Animal - don't be a Puxatauny Phil - come out and see the sunshine!) ATB - - Rip -
The_Animal
Falling liquid droplets. Something called "rain". ~translation~ I CAN'T SEE BUMSQUAT! And I'm not going out to the airport in the RAIN! Edited March 15, 2006 by The_Animal
Cobrahistorian
Just got in from my morning flight. There was a Chinook on runup on the Test Center pad. It was overall Desert Tan. I'm thinking it may be a CH-47F prototype, but couldn't get close enough to see details or get a tail number. I figure our parking spot was a good 400yds from it, but no mistaking, it was tan.
