F/A-18C, VFA-131 Wildcats

I swapped out the ejection seat with one from Aeroclub, got the TACTS pod from an Italeri weapon set, and corrected the nose by adding blobs of CA to the tip, then sanding it to shape.

Thanks to Dave Williams, Dave Roof, Joe Hegadus, Jim Rotramel and A6BSTRAM for the hints and pointers about loadouts and colors. I went for the most colorful configurations I could get for the pods.

This kit isn't that fun to build - it doesn't fit as well as it used to (from what I've been told) and I had to do a bit of filling, shimming, sanding and scraping to get it to stick together.

Not that I'm complaining, but it would be nice to have a more modern molding of the F-18 on the market. The box art shows this at a hangar, and looks freshly painted so I went accordingly and weathered it as little as possible. By the way, I used the kit decals, which went on great using applications of Micro Set and Micro Sol.

Hope you guys like it!

Real nice job Tom. Those markings look great.

I hear you on that kit. I have so many sets of aftermarket Hornet decals, but I can never get enthused to work on that thing.
