Yellowbelly
Model master grey primer is my preferred choice for plastic, resin and etched metal. I haven't had a problem although not sure if you can get their white primer in bottles for air brush use. I find the cans hard to use with my spray booth. Random
I use any kind of auto primer, or varying shades of Grey/White Tamiya rattle cans. Ben

Ricardo
Frankly I havent found any difference between primed and unprimed models. But if you like priming, any automotive primer will do the job just right and wont break the bank. Ricardo
afterburner
I find the Gunze Sanyo Mr. Surfacer 1200 in a rattle-can is a great primer. Paint sticks to it like no tomorrow, and it's good at picking out the seams you need to fix.
Bails
Make sure if you use an automotive primer that you use very light "mist" coats to avoid etching the plastic of your masterpiece. Automotive paints and primers are normally lacquers and as such are quite "hot". You might wish to practice on some sheet styrene to get a feel for using these finishes. Lots of issues with selling them (they have to go via surface, for example) but the ad will explain all. Vince
