I'm getting to the end of a SPAD build and after all these years something has finally occured to me. With all these colorful paint schemes, did they end up gloss or matte? I'm ding the Easter Egg spad from the 94th so I'm guessing that it would be gloss.

They had what could be termed as a semi-gloss refelective quality. After a little wear & tear the fabric would lose some of its glossiness, but overall you would be safer going with a slightly shiny surface. Take a a look at this shot of the NASM SPAD and it will give you a good idea of the look.

Personally, for me, it depends on scale. You definitely do not want a shiny model in 1/72nd as it will look too toy-like. However, the larger scales it can be done convincingly.
