Sabre
Ready to head out to the garage & shoot the grey on the 48th Hase F-4J. The question is...should I leave the drop tanks all white or tape off a demarcation line like the USAF versions? Have been looking through a lot of reference material & have a few examples of the USAF style. I prefer it, just for a change.....what do ya'll think? Hurry...only have a limited amount of modeling time tonight. Good to go, Jim
Spaced Marine
Jim, You know my philosophy: It's yourmodel, do what looks good to you. Do the USAF style.
Sabre
OK...that settles it! Next stop...airbrush sanctuary. Good to go, Jim
ikar
Except for the one or two cammo versions, the underside of Navy aircraft, including pylons, racs and stores were white from the ones that I have seen.
A-4Silverfox
If its Navy, its white. (He said, Dremel firmly in one hand and a Kingfisher in the other.) Edited March 22, 2006 by A-4Silverfox
Sabre
Thanks for the input guys! Too late...already pulled the Tamiya tape off...perfect job! Dremel.....Kingfisher.....! Good to go, Jim
Grey Ghost 531
If its Navy, its white. (He said, Dremel firmly in one hand and a Kingfisher in the other.) Unless it's gray. When the Navy/Marines went to the over-all light gull gray, the tanks did too.
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Unless it's gray. When the Navy/Marines went to the over-all light gull gray, the tanks did too. ...now, WHY is there always a catch??? ;)
Andre
Another exception, while we're at it (even though it's not Navy, strictly speaking): during the SEA conflict, a few landbased USMC Phantoms borrowed AF outboard wing tanks in FS34079 over FS36622. There are a few shots in a book I have back home. Cheers, Andre Edited March 22, 2006 by Andre
