HGE
Could anyone please tell me if the Academy F-86E and the F-86F are the same kit or are they truly different molds? If they are different I would like to pick up the F model. Was the F model the most used inKorea? Thanks, Henry
JackMan
If I'm not mistaken, I think the Academy E has leading edge slats that can be built in the open position but the F doesn't. Here's a review of the E: http://www.internetmodeler.com/2002/june/f.../acad_f-86e.htm The F : http://www.granddadshobbyshop.com/ACD1629.jpg http://www.internetmodeler.com/2000/decemb...aca_72sabre.htm HTH

airjiml2
Neither of the Academy Sabre kits are North American F-86s. Both are slightly reworked Hobbycraft kits. The one marked F-86E is a Canadair Sabre 6 with the 6-3 slated wing. No North American F-86 ever carried this wing. The F-86F is a Sabre 5 which was roughly analogous to the F-86F-30. However, there are detail and panel line differences between the Sabre 5 and the F-86F-30 and the Academy kit is much closer to a Sabre 6. For a F-86F-30 I would recommend the Fujimi kit. For an F-86E...well there is always kitbashing... Jim
