geedubelyer
I cut paper napkin to the correct shapes and applied one at a time. Once the epoxy has cured the surface finish is exactly the same as on the real Shuttle. What a relief because I searched forever to find something suitable.....................Next will be more FRSI and some experimenting with surgical tape as AFRSI. Randy Very inventive technique Randy. This Shuttle sure will be something to see when she's complete. I'm holding my breath until the next update........ .................(snort,...gulp,....phwerp!........... well nearly until your next update, anyway.......whew!! ) :D

afterburner
My interest has piqued- tell me more about this kit. Not sure I could go the route of the individual tiles but I can see building it in the future. How old is the kit and what is it like? Randy- this looks AMAZING! Truly fine work sir! Randy Wise
Although these are pictures of Atlantis, they might be useful. The link below each pic is to the hi-res version... Those are great photos Tony. Many thanks. The new Dennis Jenkins "Return to Flight" book is loaded with similar photos as well. Over the past 2-3 years there's been a flood of up-close and detailed photos of the Shuttles. It's a modeler's dream come true. Randy
Justin Davenport
Randy, that's great work on the tiles and blanket insulation. I've tried cutting out tiles before but only did the sides of the nose and never the whole bottom, not like you did! But yeah, for 1/72nd scale that would probably look better than the decals. Good luck and I'll be watching the master! Justin
Hans
I'll be taking notes on this, since I also plan to build all 5 orbiters this way!!! Keep it up sir!!!
