jeff briner
Soooo, have you come down out of the clouds and returned to modeling yet? Or are you and the better half still flying high? I mean, romance is nice, but unless you're willing to share pictures with us... :)
Zactoman
Soooo, have you come down out of the clouds and returned to modeling yet? Or are you and the better half still flying high?I mean, romance is nice, but unless you're willing to share pictures with us... Noooo....My head's still in the clouds  Trust me, you don't want to see pictures! B) I've been distracted working on another Zacto-project, some Zacto-art! I'm finishing up an Su-27 profile that I'm hoping I can sell to supplement the resin business. Please check it out in the Aviation Art forum and tell me what you think! Not much to show on the YF-23 of late... I spent a lot of time refining and rescribing the upper fuselage and I've finished fitting the five most difficult screen vents. The screens are castings of a fine mesh coffee filter, the same that I used for the Su-27 intake FOD guards. I thinned and heated the castings to get them to conform to the fuselage shape. All five screens are just blue-tacked in place for now and will get glued when all the rest of the detail on the upper fuselage is complete and fitted... Jay Laverty of Mastercasters sent me some incredibly fine hex nuts that I am anxious to use in detailing the landing gear wells. I'm hoping to start those soon. Thanks Jay! Thanks for all the nice comments and comic relief! :)

loftycomfort
Wow, impressive. I don't think you can machine something this precisely, let alone hand made. So far the workmanship looks far superior than my 1/32 f-16XL kit. I know this kit won't be cheap when it come's out. But I will definitely get one even if it means I'll have to pass up on buying the 1/32 A-6E, 1/32 SU-27UB to free up some cash. We will (hopefully) patiently await the return to this project in the not too distant future. I think we all wish Chris a short sabatical and will be awaiting the return of the YF-23 build. (psssst... we storm the castle at dawn.)

Tiger 01
Sigh..... 1/32 is the new 48, i guess. Any chance that this'll come out in quarter scale too, please? Pretty please? Pretty please with chocolate syrup and a cherry on top?
geedubelyer
Nose gear is partially completed................................................................ More coming soon... Ah!,.....onto the fiddly stuff now Zactoman? Looking good Umm,......what are you going to do with the rest of the F-15E?
loftycomfort
That's some pretty good progress there, Zactoman. Are the gears going to be made of resin or white metal? Thank you. Terry

Zactoman
Thanks for the nice comments again! Are the gears going to be made of resin or white metal? The struts will most likely be brass (G-Factor!!!) with resin detail parts.Little by little... Umm,......what are you going to do with the rest of the F-15E?I'm hoping to build it some day!I'm still debating whether to just use this wheel or make a whole new one (re-invent the wheel?). The YF-23 did use an F-15 wheel for the nose gear and F-18 wheels for the mains... Sigh..... 1/32 is the new 48, i guess.Any chance that this'll come out in quarter scale too, please? Sorry, but it's doubtful, especially since it's already been done by someone else.BTW, could you, please, share: what price would be? I will be start saving some money from now till that historical moment I can place the order. See this post... Edited June 10, 2008 by Zactoman
