Darren Roberts
I got done with my kitbash in time for Nats next week. There are some areas that I could still work on, but I'm going to leave it alone. I've learned that when I keep tinkering, I start breaking things and messing them up! The base kit is the Academy, which was rescribed to correct the panel lines. An R/M nose was grafted on to fix the shape issues of the Academy kit. Italeri instrument coamings replaced the kit parts as well as a True Details cockpit. There is also some Eduard PE thrown in for good measure. A derelict Hasegawa kit donated its wings, tails, and landing gear. Edited July 25, 2006 by Darren Roberts

I have plans for a weathered Sluggers Tomcat in 72nd scale and your build certainly makes me want to get started. Again, great work! Cheers, Anders

dbang1988
May you tell me where you got those helmet? They are actually what I am looking for to diorama. Thank you
Darren Roberts
May you tell me where you got those helmet? They are actually what I am looking for to diorama. Thank you I took the heads from a Hasegawa F-14 and drilled them out with a Dremel tool. It wasn't too difficult, and it only took a couple of minutes. Just be careful while holding the helmet and trying to drill. Put your Dremel on SLOW....don't ask me how I know this! <_<
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Absolutely stunning, Darren! Been looking forward to seeing this one as well. Also many thanks again for the wings which were left over from this project...you saved my Sunset submission! Truly wonderful, my friend!
ravensfan6711
First rate job! I can't wait to see this one in person.
ravensfan6711
These pictures really don't do the model the full justice it deserves! Easily the most impressive weathering job on a Tomcat that I've ever seen. Edited August 7, 2006 by ravensfan6711
Daniel_B
Been very curious to hear how this one fared in the judging. Tell me it won something, or I'm liable to throw a rather inappropriate little hissy-fit...
Phantom Phreak
Ditto.....the pics do not do the overall job justice. Darren NAILED the weathering.....just a stunning job. I'd like a set of these decals ... Scott/Mike/Bob - hint, hint!
