thegoodsgt
I was admiring Waco's Su-25 pictured on the ARC home page and noticed his comment that he'd won a "Premiere Award." I've never heard of that award. Can someone tell us what it is?
redruffensore
A "Premiere Award" is when one win for the first time in the category entered! It was introduced to try and instill modeleres to build in all categories. Caz
Darren Roberts
A Premiere Award is given to someone in a category that has never won in that general class. For instance, Waco had never won in "Aircraft" before, so he won a Premier Award for his Su-25. He can't enter an aircraft in the Premier anymore. However, if he built a tank, that would eligible for a Premier Award.
thegoodsgt
So the Premier Award is awarded in addition to the modeler's winning a regular first, second, and third place award?
volzj
Is the criteria for that the modeler's first win at the National level or IPMS overall ?
deepstriker
Is the criteria for that the modeler's first win at the National level or IPMS overall ? The criteria is based on national competions only. As people already wrote is a premiere in a category, not in the competion as a whole. Even if you entered an awarded tank you might enter a jet as propeller. Does it apply if you won a Best of? Example, I won a Best of Aircraft (hypotetically....veeery hypotetically), may I enter as a premiere in tanks? Congratulations Waco for the award, that was a nice camo, something that popped out among the hundreds of models! Edited August 9, 2006 by deepstriker
Mike J. Idacavage
The Premier Award is selected after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and "Out of Box" awards are designated. Then, the remaining models in the category are examined and the best model selected for the Premier Award among those who marked the model data sheet as being eligiable for the Premier Award. It is on the honor system that the individual modeler will be honest enough to select their eligibility if it is warrented. To be eligable, a modeler cannot have placed in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and "Out of Box" categories in any of the categories in the general model division. This includes all aircraft, armor, figures, cars, space, ships and miscellaneous. If you one an award in, say aircraft, you are still eligable to win a Premier Award in the other major divisions. As Cazentioned the purpose is to get people to model in other categories and also to give a chance for a modeler to win an award if the category is populated with a high level of National Award winners. Hope this helps! Mike
