mtphotos
Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has some tips about applying the MM Clear matt lacquer finish (brush-on). How thick would you apply it, what would you clean the brush with, and how do you thin it, if needed? Thanks so much! mt
jwilliamson
I have been using MM Flat for quite some time now both with a brush and airbrush. However, I only brush it on on small parts (ex. An ejection seat to cockpit tub). If you are planning on doing say the entire exterior of a plane, I would airbrush it on. Regardless which way, I always cut it with Mineral Spirits. I eye-ball it but I would guess I use about 75% MM Flat to about 25% Mineral Spirits. I then use Mineral Spirits to clean the brush after. EF
Don't try it, it's only for airbrushing.
FlyingSnowmew
MM clear lacquers are for both brushing and airbrushing. I clean brushes and my airbrush with lacquer thinner. I use mineral spirits or lacquer thinner to thin it.
EF
May I suggest to use the clear lacquer spray cans instead?
jrallman
I agree, the rattle cans are the same stuff as the bottles and if you dont have an airbrush, they make a much better finish than just brushing it on. I personally recommend the testors dullcote instead of the MM flat clear. It seems to give a bit more realistic sheen and a bit better clarity. Testors dullcote and glosscote come in bottles and rattle cans as well.
