Khan
I've been having a tough time finding sprue shots of this kit. I'm interested in seeing the cockpit details and the intakes. With the latter, is there anything more to them than two slits aft of the canards? For any of you who have built one, do you have sprue shots you could show me, or maybe a scan of the instructions? :)
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Assuming it's like the 1/48, there are large recesses in the upper fuselage half into which you insert the wedge-shaped intake splitter or however they decided it should be arranged. Seems like it's a 2-piece glued together and then inserted, followed by bodywork.
Andre
I have the 1/72nd kit at home, Andrews remarks sound familiair but I'd have to pull the kit out of the stash tonight to make sure. Cheers, Andre
ikar
I can send you the instructions if you want. When I build one it's got almost nothing to do with the instructions anyway. I modify them into the Science Fiction class.
Vesper
Andy JRG is correct, the intakes are like that. the cockpit is very good thou ;) Ves B)
Khan
I looked closely at the one in-progress pic there is in Thang Le's build of the 1/72 Italeri kit in the gallery. It looks like he had to use putty to fill in a gap behind the intake cover piece. You guys were right. It's interesting: does the main landing gear for this jet look to be taken directly from an F-18 to anyone else?
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Interesting thought. Maybe. Of course, the same company used MiG-23 gear for their MiG-37 plane (love that one!:D), including the mistake of leaving the tiny bit of the gear well door that attaches to the gear leg!
