Randy Wise
Is the 1/48 Revell Germany Canadair CL-13 Sabre Mk.6 (#4562) the Hasegawa re-boxed? Or is it Monogram's kit from twenty-some odd years ago?
Dave Williams
It's the Hasegawa kit with the same errors (lack of the sugar scoops) as on their own boxing of the Mk. 6.
smithery
Only difference between the Hase kit and the Revell kit is that the Revell kit includes the wingtips and cranked pitot in both styrene and resin/metal, whereas the the Hase kit is resin/metal only. The Hase kit is molded in their typical light grey, and the Revell kit is molded in a weird silver-grey color (think Tamiya XF-56). The decals in the Revell are excellent quality, and include both German and US options. Many of the copious stencils for the German machine are done up as a single decal included with the major markings, so you won't have to fiddle with too many individual stencils. Only downside to the Revell kit are the stupid paint instructions. I'd recommend downloading the Hase instruction sheet from 1999.co.jp/eng. On the plus side, the Revell kit can be purchased at the local shop for about $35. You can't get the Hase kit for that around here. jagmate
Any known source of the sugar scoops or are they a make and cast item?
smithery
You can make them yourself "fairly" easily, but they are included with the Flightdecs decals sheet. Best to check refs though, as not all airframes had them. For example, the Mk.6 I'm building had the Mk.5 wing, and did not have sugar scoops.
