Grant from Ottawa
Hi there, Does anyone have any links or direct pictures of an F4U Corsair on its landing approach onto a carrier deck? I am specifically interested in views that show the position of the tail hook, the flaps, the arrestor cable and the angle of the plane itself. I'm cooking up something! Thanks, Grant

Andrew A.
That's a freaking sweet video! The Corsair landing at 2:30 is particularly cool- the WAY curved approach you had to fly to be able to see over the nose. That's a pretty small carrier he's landing on too, small chunk of real estate to hit. Is that an escort carrier? A

David Walker
Fantastic video. That's one Andrew D. the Jolly Roger guy would really like.
Randy Wise
Fantastic video! Absolutely fantastic! It took some guts to fly Navy back in the 40's. No high-tech automatic landing systems, no Fresnel Lights, no 1000' carrier deck. Just a pilot, his keen eyesight, his flying skills and balls of steel. Those guys are my heros. David Walker
And an LSO. They need to get some credit.

A Andrew, That's a Fleet Air Arm Corsair II landing on one of the Royal Navy fleet carriers, probably Illustrious or Victorious. Brent
Mercury
Now I see why Corsairs were mainly used from land bases...

Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Wow!!! VF-17 aboard the Charger doing her carrier quals...unless it was when they went out on the Bunker Hill right before they got their -1A's....sweet! It's from the History Channel (hence the "H" in the upper right hand corner). What show/special was that from, anyone?
