Stan in YUL
I'm building the Seafire III with the help of the Airwaves Spitfire/Seafire & the Seafire Mk's 1, 2, & 3 Detail & Wing Fold Sets pluss a bit of scratch building. This will be my first major conversion (I just had to pick a wing fold). http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/stan04/01oct06014.jpg So far, the fuselage panel lines have been rescribed, the interior dressed up with some scratch built items, and seat enhansed with the PE belts and height adjustment mechanism. The instrument panel got a similar PE treatment. The area of the lower fuselage has been cut out for the A-Frame arrestor system and some dry fitting has showed that some shimming is going to be necessary. Next it will be time to load up the interior and join the fuselage halves. stay tuned.... stan in yul
Nev
Stan, if you're interested here is a link to my build of this kit for the PACAIR GB. You'll need some filler http://s102164210.onlinehome.us/forums/ind...pic=46004&st=0&
Stan in YUL
Thanks Nev I've started to deal with the fit issues, at the moment its the cut out for the arrestor A-Frame. For anyone elses benifit, DO NOT trust that the molded cut-along feature is not at all accurate. Length wise its too long and as is, you will end up cutting too deeply into the fuselage with serious shimming to do. Edited October 8, 2006 by Stan in YUL

Stan in YUL
I hope you don't mind Stan, I've taken the liberty of directly linking your image to the thread They look lovely! No problem at all, I never seem to get uploading my pics quite right anyhow. I'm still playing with the fit of the A-Frame into the aft fuselage. regards stan
Stan in YUL
Just a little catching up; the interior in place (except for the control column) and about to close... The Arrester frame insert is cooperating reluctantly; a few more sessions until its presentible. A request for some advice from any who have used this Airwaves wing fold set (or something similar): is it better to glue the wing together then cut or just keep it taped together while the surgury is going on? thanks for looking
TF51GREGWISE
she seems to be coming along nicely.
Stan in YUL
Just a wee bit further along; the fuelage is joined and that arrester frame insert is finally in. From the pics you can see just how much I had to build the lower fuselage back up. Various sink marks have been filled, and the fuselage to wing join received some shims to minimize any gaps. Lastly, the Vstab trailing edge is closed off. I want to sort out the rudder leading edge and hinge fittings before I move onto the wings. At this rate I just might finish this one by New Year's! thanks for looking stan in yul
Stan in YUL
Time for another couple of pics: The Airwaves re-inforcement plates, catapult spools, and lift sling fittings have been installed: Got to go back and work on the rudder and elevator leading edges. thanks again for looking! stan in yul
