Chris Kethan
My 2 year old Twins went to school today, so I had some time for modelling! Got the cockpit finished and most of the construction of the -152 done. Hope to get it painted in the next week. I also opened up the 410, and cleaned up all the cockpit parts. I hope to get them painted tonight and maybe get the wings together. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to get a third entry done. :D Chris
jrallman
i have a 410 in my stash as well, but i picked up the CMK cockpit set for it since it is the only way to get a vac canopy (the weak point of the kit from what ive read) i will be curious to see what the kit piece is like. Chuck1945
From all that I have read, the Me 210 was a disaster to fly and the modifications that eventually resulted in the 410 really didn't help all that much. Nonetheless, I have always liked the look of that airplane - kinda like the Breda 88, looked cool, but a flying disaster. Anyway, I have several of the FineMolds 1/72 410s in the stash and at the recent IPMS/USA Nats, found the the Eduard profipak version for $20 (original retail was $60) and whatever version had the honkin' great 5cm cannon sticking out the nose. Mark M.
The 210 was unstable in almost all aspects of flight. A simple fix wouldn't help, so a total redesign resulted in the 410 (hence the new number). The 410 was a flyable plane, with few of the flaws the 210 had, from what I recall. I could be wrong. Regardless, what I love about the 410 is the shape, and the guns package: it could carry something on the order of 2 or 4 30mm and 2 or 4 20mm (6 total, I don't recall which caliber were 2x and which caliber were 4x -- I suspect 2x 30mm and 4x MG151/20)
jrallman
i love the shape of the 410 too. hmmm, perhaps if i have time after my 188 and dora, maybe ill break out the ol pro mod 410 and CMK cockpit.
jrallman
Lovely looking, purposeful plane, a bit like the He-219, and I bet they both had great forward visibility because of those canopies right at the front and dont forget the Ju 188/388!
Chris Kethan
I finished the Ta-152! :D First kit I've finished since I completed my PACAIR GB Corsair almost 18 months ago. I'll take it outside and shoot some pix if it ever stops raining here. On to the Me-410! I think I will also start a Fw-190 while my -410 subassemblies are drying.
