geedubelyer
Hi guys, Here's a look at some photo-etched carrier details from the same company that offers the awesome etched Flanker jet pipes. Linky Set includes steam catapult track, shuttle, tie downs and blast shields. Not cheap but it looks very high quality. Cheers,
drhornii
$137 USD plus shipping. Looks like a lot of etch though.
Youngtiger1
Wow, now that is cool, ah, expensive but cool.
JasonB
I would love to see someone do a 1/32 blast deflector in resin. Probably wouldn't sell enough to make it worth the effort, but it sure would be nice to pose an F-18 on the cat ready to be launched. I have seen one scratchbuilt effort, and its beyond my attention/interest span to consider.
richter111
Yes that set is pricy! I wonder how hard it would be to replicate in strip styrene on a wood base, textured, and some scratching.

This is the one I was thinking of. Too much effort for me, but pretty amazing nonetheless http://www.carrierbuilders.net/articles/20...photo_thumb.htm
Gervais8
Extremely cool! Expensive... but cool! Masa Narita did a fantastic job on his Tomcat build but for us snot-nosed novices it would sure be nice to see something like this. RG
jmel
thinking of putting your Tomcat into a carrier diorama, Guy?? Don't tease us. Jake
Gervais8
Jake, I concur with your idea... Guy should put his Tomcat in a diorama. RG
richter111
My eventual goal is to build up both a F-14 and F-18 in 1/32 with a cat shot lined up...

TaiidanTomcat
That really is cool, a bit pricey for me but it looks worth the money for those that can afford it.

No need to paint here. You can use bating. use a standard metal bating from you local hardware shop. experiment on a test piece though - an aluminium sheet or a thicker alu foil should do. I have only used it once for darkening but it is possible to achieve different colours to simulate the metal finish you want: burned steel, copper, titanium... Mr. Opitz has used this technique on the nozzles you saw/see - flawless result, I think. rg Martin
designfriemel
Now to get somebody in the US to carry them...RG eh, why exactly? I'm sure he will be happy to take your order and ship to you. BTW, As far as I am concerned ALL parts are CNC machined - no photo-etched parts here.

Yeah, the way the Flanker exhaust section looks is gorgeous. Marcel
Adam Baker
Yea, I noticed that a lot of the parts are machined parts, which would definitely explain the cost. Thats the sort of thing I'd love to get into, making machined parts for models. Ive got the experience & the programs. Just need the machines to do it.
