regevmo
Here's an idea that might work in your larger scale:-Punch disks the size of the screw head in think plastic. -Glue them to the tank. -Use white glue or epoxy to make the domed head of the screw on top of the disk. The plastic disk should allow you to make them all the same size. Thanks dave, i will try this method also and hope i will get good results.
agelos2005
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will follow it closely my friend. One tip for the bolts. Why don you press a hexagonal scrw driver (we call allen keys) to a bolb of putty. Let the putty dry and then you can use melted plastic or resin or putty ro make the copies!!! martin_sam_2000
I want to do the screws heads like in the picture below, I tried to do it with cyno glue but the result wasn't good (not consistent size) so if you have any idea on how to do it i will appreciate the help - Regev im not sure how long that tank is(no real reference in your pics other than other f-16's) but could you use a straight pin that has a flat head?? if the tank is of a sufficient size, could you also us the small little screw that come out of electronics?? the might be small enough to scale accurate. sean

JasonB
New update –I want to do the screws heads like in the picture below, I tried to do it with cyno glue but the result wasn't good (not consistent size) so if you have any idea on how to do it i will appreciate the help - Regev On large scale armor and figs, I have done rivets and screws by using 2 part epoxy putty. After you mix it together, just take a very tiny amount and roll it into a ball slightly smaller than the size of the rivet or screw you want to make. Then place it where you need it to be and press it into a domed shape. It will take a little practice, but you will be able to make uniform sizes in no time. While the putty is still soft, you can lightly imprint the screw slots, or if you have a very tiny phillips head screwdrivers, actually use it to press the pattern into the putty. Its best to let the putty firm up a bit, this will prevent it from deforming when you press into it. I use Magic Sculpt, but any 2 part epoxy putty should work HTH Jason
regevmo
New update - First, thanks for suggestions on how to make the screw heads, I tried some of them and finally made them using Elmer's glue - Made them also on other areas on the fuel tank (above and below the horizontal metal stripes, a bit hard to see them in this photo) - Detailing of the stabilizers is still in progress - But now I have to decide on a first major decision, do i need to make the lines of the rivets on it like in this photo - If I will make them i will have to do it all over the aircraft, and I think the final effect will be too "busy" (not to mention the workload that will be increased), so I tend not to do it. Meanwhile the work on the lower fuselage continues, I will update on it soon. Thanks for watching :)

regevmo
New update - The second part of the lower fuselage was first made from wood - A layer of styrene was glued to the wood and blended with thinner+styrene, then the surface was sanded roughly to the basic shape - Here is the two parts of the lower fuselage and a comparison to the tamiya part and a 30cm ruler - What I'm planning now is to start the upper fuselage and after completing the basic shapes i will start to "fine tune" the whole thing.
