Flyingraptor
Flankers are just the most beautiful aircrafts ever... (IMHO.... ) Your model is representing that perfectly...
rom
hello! I've started decaling.. very fast step... the aircraft seems not to wear a lot of stencils and insignias... Then i started with the weathering. I did a wash with matt black and brown pigments. Stabs and the belly are done. the upper side is on work: I apply the wash with a brush, trying to put the maximum in the recessed lines then i wipe the excess with a cotton swab dipped in thinner. The brown pigments give a good weathering effect. it represents the dust and sand.... This aircraft is located in south of africa!! Near the end! bye
Likoyan
Hi rom: I like very much your pint work, also yur weathering what kind of weapons load are you cnsidering? Saludos
rom
thanks Likoyan! concerning the weapons, i'm not sure at the moment... this plane is used for training and ground attack... I was thinking of two training missiles (those withe black stripes).. or maybe no weapons at all, or just the pylons... what do you think about it, men??? thank again! bye
loftycomfort
Wow amazing airbrushing work on the camouflage. Cheers, Terry
Likoyan
Rom: I think that a pair of rocket pods and bombs would look ad oc with that fierce camouflage!!! I like very much how looks the big rocket pods like B-13L or S-25 and the KMGU-2 container looks agressive too, although i don't know what kind of weapons have Angola in their arsenal.... Saludos Abraham
rom
"although i don't know what kind of weapons have Angola in their arsenal.... " you're right, Likoyan! Moreover, i don't what kind of air to ground weapons a Flanker C can carry... If you have some pictures of those weapons, it would be nice... I have an OEZ Su 25K with some rockets and pods... thanks!
rom
the wash is done!! i'll do more pics tomorow with a better camera. i will finish the weathering with oil paint and white pigment, in order to represent traces and dust.. bye
Likoyan
Rom: You can check here various options of war loads for your Su-27UB: http://www.airwar.ru/aweapon.html Unguided rockets: http://www.airwar.ru/enc/weapon/anur_data.html Bombs: http://www.airwar.ru/enc/weapon/ab_data.html I know that the Flanker C can carry all the "dumb" weapons, but i may be on a mistake, any way you can confirm on these files. Hope this is useful for you!

Diego
concerning the weapons, i'm not sure at the moment...this plane is used for training and ground attack... I was thinking of two training missiles (those withe black stripes).. or maybe no weapons at all, or just the pylons... Great job on your Flanker - indeed it looks that the beast is waking up to life with each new step! Concerning the weapons...well, the milssile pylons are there, and, as the Su-27UB are mostly configured for air to air ( the Su-30 being the first true multirole Flankers) you can install either some training missiles, or, maybe 2 smaller unguided rocket launchers ( maybe coming from FAPA MiG-21Bis or Su-22M4s ) for training purposes or as target markers...as it seems the twoseaters were also used in the FAC role. BTW - indeed there are some standard stencils on the uppersurfaces, but, as the red walkways were not applied and the others are much smaller, I guess the bird looks very good in the configuration you made! The "intake" markings are the most visible stencils, so all looks OK! Cheers Diego
rom
thanks Diego! so, in rockets, i have those : http://www.aeronautics.ru/img001/s24.gif and http://www.aeronautics.ru/img001/s8.gif which pod is better? It's not possible to put a rocket pod and a missile on each wings??? bye
Diego
Well, I assume the S-8 pod will be a better choice for a SU-27...I saw these on Chinese and Kazach Flankers even on double lauchers, so one under each wing ( on the underwing pylons near to the fuselage) would be a realistic configuration. I never saw operational Flankers ( read: Su-27S/UB) with both missiles and rocket pods,I assume because the electrical wiring of the Su-27UBand early Flankers would make it difficult to use the air to air and air to ground capabilities simultaneously... Maybe Kotey could say more... Cheers Diego thanks Diego!so, in rockets, i have those : http://www.aeronautics.ru/img001/s24.gif and http://www.aeronautics.ru/img001/s8.gif which pod is better?
