dawestsides
Actually I came to scale modeling because of 3d modeling...though I haven't started yet my first "real" model  I think rendering an aircraft in 3D is as difficult as building a scale model, but both bring a lot of fun.I'm using 3ds Max 2010,texturing (in progress) with Illustrator/Photoshop,and final render in Mental Ray. I'm still waiting for my ICM MiG-25PD,will work on both...but not at the same time! Hope you like it: Edited March 31, 2010 by dawestsides

dawestsides
Thank you :D I haven't found any drawings/blueprints on the R15-300,so I based my modeling on pictures only.I hope the dimensions are close to the real thing.
olemanjoe
Oh WOWWW!!!!! Thats another reason to get a PC! I have always been using Macs (for work n home) but i think i'll get a PC just to emulate what you are doing! Is the software hard to use? Do u need a good graphics card? What sort of set up for the PC do you have? How do you incorporate photoshop into it? is PSD just for textures? Its fantastic work! :) Ol
davetur
Some details on the R15-300 exhaust nozzles: Now, to really be a hero on this forum you could do two things: 1. sell the 3d model to some manufacturer of aftermarket resin parts who can produce a master out of it: I'm sure Aires is one, or 2. find the way to transform the 3d model into suitable file (.stl) that can be managed by a high resolution stereolitography machine, also called 3d printer, make your own master out of it and start to produce resin parts for the MiG geeks around the world. I know there are companies that will do the print for a reasonable fee. What do you think? Cheers Davide Edited June 16, 2010 by davetur
dawestsides
me...a hero  Selling the model to a manufacturer is a great idea,I've seen a lot of complaints on the MiG-25 afterburner cans available on the market, seems that nobody got them right so far. I'm not familiar with stereolitography, how much would it cost? Thanks
soulfreak
Looks great! How much is the poly count of that model?
