I have a Nikon D90 camera and the files are HUGE, so I have to spend some time editing them down to a lower resolution. I also have dial-up. Bummer. I bought the aircraftphoto.ru CD and it's been a great help for pictures. For the blue weathering on the engine NMF sections have you used a clear blue/red like Tamiya or Gunze, or the clear Alcad colors? I've used the Alclad clear colors with pretty good luck, but haven't tried to airbrush a thin line. What do you think? Thanks again. Chris Hi Chris....get the thread started. It's up to you to feed the Flanker-fest I'll get on it this weekend in between re-building my deck and tending to a pregnant wife. Tut, tut...any excuse :lol: That's the trouble with a hobby. Other things take priority. Wait 'till I've finished the bathroom, I'm not gonna stop building until the Flanker's done :D As for the bare metal, I used oil paint over the metalliser to give the various hues. It had the added benefit of dulling down the sheen somewhat which appears more natural to me. As for the thin blue lines, they should be hand painted with a thin brush. The real items are pretty uneven close up. I made my Flanker last year using Zactoman's excellent canopy - but before the intakes and nose were available - so mine are scratch-built. .................................... and it is FINISHED And a nice job you made of it Ken. I followed this thread for the first time 1-1/2 wks ago amd caught up. Of course I could not help but to buy the whole Zacto kit. (All 3) I just received them last night and wow it is super high quality. I am a huge Su27 fan going back to 1995 when I downloaded a demo of Su27 (the flight sim) after that I started building models of the flanker and have built 4 and working on my 1/32 starting last night. (as well as a su35 conversion in 1/48 thats going well, but I am breaking to start the 1/32) I bought my 1/32 two years ago and hoped some goodies would show up (like the Zactomodel kits) Also... can we buy Military in Scale anywhere in the USA? Like Borders or B&N? I have appreciated Kens work since 95 and would like to get a copy of the magazines. Ken D. - Great work! I so wish I could see a flanker in real life and see russia. All we get in the states are f16s and f18 etc. Occasionally a prvatley owned Mig from the 50s. Thanks to Chris for going above and beyond on his products. And the extra detail sheet is it redundant to what I've got already (provided with the Trumpeter kit) Regards, Scott The Linden Hill decals are pretty much a necessity - while the Trumpeter decals are relatively complete, they are (1) inaccurate and (2) crappy decals - By comparison, the LH decals are very well researched, and are printed by Microscale, so you're basically getting the best, easiest to use decals in the world. Strange that you don't like the Polar schemes, as I found all of them to be very interesting - the second release in 1/32 is much of the same, but with a couple of odd schemes for the Uzbek AF. Although it may not be totally realistic, I'd prefer to have some of the depth and all that lovely detail at the far end shown. I'm hoping to use some of the more interesting and exotic air to ground weapons found in the kit. Does anyone know how the Su-27 can be configured (other than air to air)? How bad are they? So, based on that, I'm going to stick Kh-31Ps (and their pylons) on stations 9 and 10 just because they look cool and my Flanker is an Su-30/35 wannabee. I call it "airshow static display load-out". (Don't tell anyone!) I bought the weapon set because I wanted to throw on some air-to-ground ordnance and got a good deal on the kit. I'm not sure I'd say that - the R-27s that were in the MiG-29s were much improved over what were included in the Su-27 - and those are the ones included in the weapons set. Zactoman Posted December 11, 2008 Share Posted December 11, 2008 It's been over a year since this thread last resurfaced. Time for some new 1/32 Flanker love! Lots of Flanker stuff has happened since then. Trumpeter has released an Su-27UB and 're-tooled' many of the parts for it including nosecone and intakes. Their new parts look amazingly similar to mine :wub: Details >>>here<<<. They are also now including those 're-tooled' parts in the single seat kit as well as a 're-tooled' front windscreen. The two-seater will be needing a new canopy (when I can find the time!). The sheet will include markings for four Su-27s and three Su-27UBs. Among the markings on the sheet are "Blue 56": And "Blue 08" Note that "Blue 08" has a different, early tail stinger...
