Kristof D
hi everyone, so I recently moved and for now I'm not able to use my airbrush. But I still want to make some model aircraft namely a 1/48 BF109E. I'll have to brush paint it and I have a limited number or choices. Which paint would you guys pick? I can easily get: -Vallejo model air (I believe these are for airbrushing no?) -Vallejo model color -Lifecolor -Revell aqua color thanks for the help everyone have a nice day
Bob Beary
Of the ones you mentioned, I'm only familiar with Vallejo. They do brush very well. Bob
nerdling
I'd go with the Vallejo Model Colors myself. They brush very well and leave very little in the way of brush strokes. So why did you have to give up the airbrush? I know that my wife and I moved into an apartment. At first I was concerned that I'd not be able to use a compressor. But I found one that runs pretty quietly. Not once have the neighbors ever said anything.
AVGBob
Vallejo model color is my vote.
SERNAK
Definitely Vallejo Model Color but, the general rule for paint-brushing is to use a flat-brush, half dipped in thinner and then in paint, and then apply it on a surface following a single direction not back-and-forward. Lancer512
I also vote for, Vallejo Model Color. If you add a drop of their Airbrush Cleaner, it makes a huge difference when brushing!
sabre45
I have good results with Revell Aqua. It paints smooth and no strikes. Han
Ro-Gar Hobbies
If you live in the U.S., try some of the craft paints from Hobby Lobby, Walmart or Michael's. They are acrylic and brush on and level out really nice. Plus you get 3x more paint for less. I have also airbrushed them using windshield washer fluid as the cutting agent. But, if you need to stick with hobby paints, Vallejo would be my first choice as I found them to be the best. Robert
Neo
Its not in tour list but i bushed painted my model for years using Humbrol enamels and i havent found another paint that was nearly has good. Banana11000
I would definitely go with Vallejo Model Colour. I love using the stuff when I have to brush paint. Just a word of caution. Do NOT use Tamiya acrylics for brush large surfaces. Its great for airbrushing, but not so much for brush painting. Anyways, Happy Modeling! :)/> Edited July 8, 2015 by Banana11000
