Time to think up a few more Group builds for the end of this year and getting into 2017.

I am thinking of one that has NOT been done,

"Start me up GB"

Build ANYTHING, but with one change. It has to be powered to do SOMETHING. Powered props, lights on, remote controlled, battery powered, crap I don't care if its diesel.

An example, easy one. Spinning props. Some kits like older Tamiya Lancasters have this as an option.

Have the running lights on using little fibre optics. I am thinking of doing a 1/72 Corvette with port starboard and mast lights. Also thinking of lighting up a Star Ship Enterprise.

Have jet engine lit up, whatever. A ship with turning props.

Standard rules. Next to un-started or very "light"ly started. Ha, catch that?

Anything would work as long as its a model.

I like phantoms idea of the "Start me up GB"

A few months ago someone suggested a SAC GB, which sounds like a fun idea, but the GB calendar was pretty full already, maybe he can try it again.

There is a category at my Local IPMS show every year, "Triathlon" where you build models of 3 different subjects, such as Aircraft, armor, and car. This would be a bit ambitious but with proper kit selection It could be done.

I would still like to see a Vacuform GB

Any other Ideas?

Nose Art GB - Any aircraft with a nose art. Mostly WWII obviously, but a good number of modern subjects have also been decorated with nose art.

Made in France - Any subject which was originally manufactured in France, in any markings. So we could see French Rafales, Australian Mirage IIIs, or Belgian Magisters.

Korean War GB - Looking through the archives, the last one was almost 10 years ago.

This has potential, the French have designed a lot of interesting aircraft.

What about a "Big...Little...Screen GB"? Any vehicle (aircraft, helicopter, car, sci-fi, armor, ship, etc) or figure kit that was used in a movie or TV show. The vehicle would have to be in the exact markings as seen in the movie or TV show and be the correct type/version.

Examples:

-"Fury" Sherman.

-Knight 2000 (a.k.a "Knightrider").

-"Dukes of Hazzard"...any of the cars.

-"Battle of Britain" aircraft...remember those were Spanish versions of the 109 and He-111 and late mark Spits painted up as Mk.I AC.

-"Star Trek"...wow talk about options!

-"Star Wars"...^^^ ^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^

-"A-Team" van

-"Magnum P.I"...TC's helicopter, Magnum's Ferrari, Ricks Mercedes.

-"Final Countdown"...not just the F-14's, but ANY AC that got camera time (A-7, Vigilante, Sea King, Hawkeye, RF-8, Zero replica...I think a Tracker got a second of screen time in the hangar in the beginning, as did a Phantom on the deck). Even an early USS Nimitiz or other ship shown on camera.

-"Top Gun"...you all know what options there could be there.

-"Firefox"...if there is a kit available?

-"Iron Eagle" movies...again take your pick.

-"Airwolf"

-"Blue Thunder"

-"Platoon"...some good Huey choices, M113 with a sharks mouth.

-"Battlestar Galactica"...lots of choices.

-"Space 1999"

-"Apollo 13"

-"Firebirds"... Apache, Kiowa etc.

-"Smokey and the Bandit"...you choose.

-"Aliens"...you choose.

-"Behind Enemy Lines"...Super Hornet, armor subjects, couple helicopters.

-"Independence Day"...lots of choices.

-Any of those old war movies that had U.S. tanks painted up as German Tanks..."Patton" for example.

-Any figures that show the likeness of the actor in character...Braveheart, Terminator, classic monster movie figures etc.

Honestly folks theses are just off the top of my head. The sky's the limit! But, whatever you choose to build must be correct for the movie/TV series in terms of markings and AC/armor type. A screen shot of your chosen subject would probably also be a good requirement if possible.

Just a thought.

EDIT: How could I forget..."Strategic Air Command" with Jimmy Stewart !

EDIT #2: Also feel free to "light em up" as Phantom suggested in his initial post.

I'll shut up now...

The light'em up or motion type thing doesn't appeal very much to me, though I won't vote against it. There are several other modeling things and Group Builds that strike my interest much more.

Some Group Build themes that come to mind for me:

..Strategic Air Command

..Blue Water Air Navy. any US Navy aircraft with a blue paint job. Could be expanded to other countries

..First Generation or Early Jets. An jet before the Century Series

..Century Series. F-100 through F-117

..Black Ops. Any plane, jet or prop that had an all black paint job.

..Weekend Warriors. Anything flown by the Reserves or National Guard.
