  1. The Story Behind The Thunderbirds’ Black-Tailed F-4 Phantom And “Captain Carbon” https://www.twz.com/40784/heres-the-story-behind-the-thunderbirds-black-tailed-f-4-phantom
  2. Almost forgot that the Spruce Goose's actual name was the H-4 Hercules. Didn't know that Minicraft released a TWA boxing of this kit. Appropriate because of Howard Hughes' acquisition of TWA. Nicely done video. Thank you.
  3. I agree. Almost F-14-ish nose shape. This pic really does show ogive-shape contour to good effect, particularly against the darker background.
  4. That looks very good. I think you did a good job because it looks way better than simply out of the box. Very nice metallic finish, too Gwen, I see what you mean. the first two photos of Dmitri's set really shows the difference of how the entire front fuselage should be contoured. I think I'll hold off from getting the ResKit sets because....looking at D-Molds set....I think it's not just the nose that should be replaced. Roger Jackson addressed this with a spare Mig-25 nose and did an awesome job: https://modelingmadness.com/review/viet/jackson105i.jpg
  5. Has anyone tried the ResKit noses for the Hobbyboss F-105s? https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/RSU72-0238 https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/RSU48-0340 Do they capture the real thing's gently-tapering arc, with an ogive-shaped curve at the radome? Also, anyone tried fitting them onto the Monogram kits? The noses of both the Hobbyboss and Monogram/Revell kits bother me. To my eyes, both kits' noses seem too straight and doesn't seem to have the contours.
  6. Actually, you are right about the yellowing. I remember now when I first got the sheet, I was disappointed with how quickly the sheet had yellowed (like it arrived already yellowed) and the white decals seemed a little off-white. I'll probably take your advice and get a new sheet just in case. As for kit, I'm not quite sure which one might be an accurate one. At my disposal are the old Hasegawa Russian Knights kit as well as the original boxing: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10112493 Also, I have an old Italeri Sea - Flanker (which I believe is just Italeri's no
  7. Woo hoo! Thanks for this! Now that you posted that link, I remembered that I actually have that particular sheet. It's somewhere in my stash and I will have to try and locate it. Haven't seen it in years so I hope it's still in good condition. Thanks again, sir
  8. Does anyone make 1/72 decals for this SU-30KI? https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hasegawa-00095-sukhoi-su-30-ki--676852 Or are there are decals for any other version of the Flanker wearing this type of "winter/blizzard" camo? Thank you.
  9. Something interesting I read in Eric Bergerud's post here: http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=77101#p514108 (although the thread is about Lifecolor, they do discuss Tamiya acrylics) is that Tamiya Acrylics isn't really a true acrylic but is, in fact, lacquer based and supposedly works better with Tamiya or Gunze lacquer thinner rather than Tamiya's X-20A thinner. Haven't tried it myself but it probably explains why Tamiya acrylics don't really brush paint as well as the other "true" acrylics like Vallejo and Lifecolor.
  10. Good stuff. I like how you explained the thinning ratios and the different psi for the gloss vs flat paints. Thank you!
  11. Very nice! I like how you depicted the trailing edges in a slightly lighter green.
  12. No, I remember seeing this boxing sometime ago. IIRC, the gun bay & flaps were by a resin company called Jaguar. If I'm not mistaken, Hasegawa packaged their F-86 with the Jaguar resin.
  13. They were included in these super-secret 'weapons of mass distraction' boxings that even Lockheed employees don't want to talk about: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10199366 https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10109799
  14. Wow! You're Duncan Curtis? I must say your book's awesome! I was inspired to get the book when I bought Hasegawa's drone QF-86 https://modelingmadness.com/scott/korean/preview/hasegawa/09306.htm And the subject matter got me interested in drone Sabres.
  15. You mean QF-86H no: 53-1314 pictured on pg 36 of Naval Fighters No.58? https://www.scalemates.com/books/north-american-qf-86e-f-h-sabre-naval-fighters-58-duncan-curtis--109677 I think it's also on the decal sheet of the C&H Aero Miniatures 1/32 F-86H and featured on the box art: https://thumbs.worthpoint.com/zoom/images2/1/0716/17/32-h-aero-minatures-86h-conversion_1_b0344a663c0d338072802fac8baac02a.jpg You can see Snoopy just below and to the left of the Stars & Bars. https://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/details/ch/images/ch_f-86h_decal.jpg (
