  1. Since I cannot read Japanese, does anyone happen to know the solvent for Mr. Hobby Mr. White Putty? I'd like to thin it a bit before applying it. Thanks a lot, John Z
  2. I'm "toying" with the idea of doing a Brownwater Navy diorama using the Huey with Tamiya's PBR river boat ;)
  3. Yes I did, Paul and thanks very much for helping. I have the Academy 1:35 Huey gun ship. I saw your handle and I'm wondering if you've built that kit? John Buffalo, NY
  4. Thanks very much it is exactly what I need. No, it's the US Navy version. I'm planning on building the aircraft that flew off of the USS Midway. I toured the Midway in 2007 when I went to California on business and took a lot of reference pictures of it. Thanks for your time and effort. John Z Buffalo, NY
  5. Would anyone have a copy of the instruction booklet for the Tamiya 1:48 scale A1-H Skyraider kit? I misplaced or accidentally threw out (blasphemy) the sheet and I'm not good enough to have at it without it. The kit number is 61058. Thanks very much. Please send to: johnz@buffalo.com
  6. I've had problems thinning Polly Scale acrylics with POLLYSCALE THINNER believe it or not! I would get what I describe as clotting of the paint - kind of like curdled milk or cottage cheese only runnier. So, I stopped that after three jars of paint of different color each a different age. I use Windex successfully with Polly Scale and never had a curdling problems since. Also, I've never been let down by regular, old household rubbing alcohol to thin any Tamiya paint. It's cheaper than X-20A and there's more of it. Does anyone else have a problem brush painting Tamiya paints? PS works great,
  7. Well, as they say, "If you can't dance, fake it." ;)
  8. Okay, I see I'll need more references. Do you design or build these things? Thanks a heckuvalot for the info!
  9. That's an OUTSTANDING piece of modeling, Sarge! Thanks very much for your advice and I'll keep you advised on the progress.
  10. I do have the Italieri kit in 1:72 scale about 25% completed, but to do one in the large quarter scale would be so much better. Thanks for the info guys and I'll be looking out for the release. There is a good review of the CH-53 in the May 07 issue of Scale Aircraft Modeling for those who are interested.
  11. I have some really good detailed digital camera photos of a US Navy MH-53 Sea Dragon taken at last weekends' Thunder of Niagara Airshow. I see that Academy produces a 1:48 scale CH-53 and would like to know if anyone can help me in pointing out the MAIN differences between the two aircraft. I like to build things that are not in the 'mainstream' and this helicopter (minesweeper) is really cool. Any guidance is greatly appreciated and I can definitely share the photos to anyone interested. Thanks much, John Z
  12. I agree with you completely about the kit and the aircraft. I was at the Thunder of Niagara airshow yesterday and they had a US Navy PC-3 Orion on display, which reminded me very much of the Atlantic. Took a lot of photos of it as well. I'll keep you abreast of my progress. John Z
  13. Thank you, gentlemen. Now I know what a fueselage seam plug is. I didn't notice it all until you mentioned it. Wow......
