Okay, I am late too. Been working on it for a couple weeks, but figured I would ask. I have got the hull together and actually trying to run some fiber optics to 'light' the hanger. If okay would love to join.

Will post a couple pics later.

Hey "The Lady Lex"! Nice choice  . One of my favorite WWII carriers (CV-10 "Yorktown" being among them as well). I look forward to following along.

Happy modeling!

Regards,

Don.

Have not gotten that much done on the ship itself, a little more of the hangar lighting setup and some AA guns. But I did get the initial coat on the airwing:

I am using a mix of the Dragon planes and some Trumpeter ones (they were all clear, hence the green). She will be carrying F6Fs, Helldivers and Avengers.

Masked the canopies with Liquid Frisket. So should be able to just pull it off. Used a toothpick tip to apply. Hopefully it works. After that dries (enamels), I am going to do the under white color (for the airwing flashes). Also for the white bottoms.

Have finally gotten a little more done. Finished the PE on the Elevator (and it was really challenging for me!) and then painted it and the flight deck with a tan color, before I do the tie down strips and deck color. So here are a couple update photos.

Well, got my deck painted. Here is how I did it. 1st, I painted the flight deck tan. 2nd, then I used a straight edge (could have gone better but the fiber in the hanger made the deck uneven/wobbly) to add the tie down lines with Fine Sharpie. 3rd, painted the 20-b deck stain color.

Saw it on a 'ship' site. Gives it the 'worn' look of the wood showing thru the deck stain wearing off from use. Apparently, in the S. Pac theatre, the deck stain wore out (down?) quite a bit and this sort of replicates it.
