  1. If it is not too late, I vote for a 75 FS jet. Tail number doesn't matter, something that deployed for OEF in the last few years. Just want the 75 FS shark patch and black/white checkers on the tail. Don R
  2. As was said above, the black AFV MiG-28 release has sprues for early and late radomes and LEX's. It also has options for earlier or late ejection seats and early or late cockpits instrument panels. I'm using it right now to build a USAF Aggressor from the 1980's and everything needed is there. For USAF, use the instrument panel without the RHAW gear instruments. I recommend an aftermarket seat. I got the Quickboost F-5F which comes with two "late" seats, so I'm good for another F-5E. Don R
  3. Thanks, Paul. That was the ticket! It came out perfect. I hadn't thought of that before. Don
  4. My attempts to print yellowish font stencils on black canopy rails for crew names on a Hasegawa 1/48 RF-4C (USAF) is a bust, after multiple attempts with an inkjet printer and a few different types of inkjet decal paper. The ink is not dense enough and is generally finicky. I’m seeking anyone who can help print custom, quality decals. Alps printer or whatever. All I need are the small font name stencils. I can provide photo references. Willing to pay a fair price. Please PM me if interested and willing. THANKS! Don R
  5. So, I ended up spraying a light, thin mist of Model Air medium green lightened with USAF light gray. Sprayed over the Aclard aluminum, came out nice. Good enough since it all looks like a black hole when assembled. Don R
  6. Yeah, I am probably overthinking it since it will be barely visible. Don
  7. F-4 fans know that the liner in the afterburner cans of the J79 have a greenish color to them. I'm looking for tips on replicating this effect, if anyone has a good idea. The interior of the exhausts have an Alclad Dull Aluminum + Jet Exhaust base coat. I'm thinking either light mists of 1) Tamiya clear green, or 2) a cocktail of MM zinc chromate and light tan. Perhaps tone down the Tamiya clear green with clear smoke? Anyone have any thoughts? By the way, building a 1/48 Hasegawa RF-4C, using the Aires exhausts. THANKS! Don
  8. Guten Tag! I’m building my first WW II Luftwaffe kits, simultaneously, a 1/48 Fw190A-4 and Bf109E-7, both from Tamiya. I’m at the stage for applying the mottling, which I’ve never done. It’s intimidating and I don’t want to screw up. First off, I’m a relative novice with the airbrush. I use an Iwata double-action, and I can adjust PSI on my compressor. I’m OK at broad area coverage, but I still struggle with control on finer details. Thus far for the wings and fuselages I’ve been using Polly Scale for the RLM 74/75/76, thinned about 10-15% with distilled water, sprayed at about 10 PSI.
  9. I'm curious about the possible FS numbers on that MiG-23. Anyone have a guess?
  10. Scott (or anyone), The second picture, labeled F-4E from Korat, Wild Weasel, that one is very interesting. I have never seen a picture of an E-model carrying AGM-45 Shrikes in SEA. Tough to tell it is an E-model, but the comm antenna behind the WSO is offset to starboard and that is a good clue I think. No canopy rail color markings either to offer clues to which squadron that is (i.e. like the red rails from the 67 TFS's F-4C's at Korat in '72). I would be interested to know more about that configuration and mission on the F-4E during that era. (yes, I know later, after the war, they wor
  11. I'm doing a quick build of the 1/200 Hasegawa T-43A nav trainer for a holiday gift. It will be a CO ANG bird, mid-late 1980s. After much Googling, I can't find a definite FS for the gray fuselages (bottom) and wings. Anyone have the right answer and/or a good reference? Don R
  12. Just sent a PM request as well. Thanks. Don R
  13. Like many, I use a nuts/bolts/screws drawer organizer and have labeled them things like: Figures Seats Ladders Panels Clear Struts/Actuators Bombs Racks/Pylons Fuel Tanks/Pods AIM9s AIM7s PGMs Wheels Misc. And then I have a couple larger bins for oversized items and spare decals.
