I bought two Afterburner Decal sheets from him via ebay:

1/48 Afterburner Decals 48-078 – SR-71 Blackbirds Part 1, for $103.50 USD

and

1/48 Afterburner Decals 48-069 - Victory Cats VF-84 F-14A Tomcat 1981-1994, for $102.50 USD

He also had 1/48 Afterburner Decals SR-71A/B Blackbirds Part 2 YF-12, for sale as well (which I didn't bid on) but which also sold.

After I've paid him he tells me he "lost" the SR-71 decal sheet and refunded my money BEFORE we even had time to discuss the issue. But he tells me he still has the F-14 decal sheet I bought off him.

A day later he has cancelled the transaction for the F-14 decals as well and doesn't contact me to tell me why. He refunds my money via paypal. Low and behold not even a day after this fiasco, I find the two IDENTICAL SR-71 decal sheets for sale again on Canadian ebay but through a US location. Coincidence?, I don't think so, what are the chances?

here's his "explanation" in an email via ebay:

"I'm not sure how to tell you this, but I seem to have misplaced a rather large amount of decal sheets here at my home. We are undergoing renovations, and the house is in quite a state of disarray. Unfortunately, as a result, I can't for the life of me find your 1/48 Blackbird sheet anywhere. I will refund you for the sheet, and if I come across it here in the near future, I will send it to you and give you a discount for the trouble I have caused. Please accept my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience I have caused"

My reply:

"What about the OTHER SR-71 decal sheet you recently sold, and my Tomcat decals, do you still have any of those. I REALLY wanted that decal sheet for an SR-71 commission build, that's why I bid so high for it.I'm happy to have you keep looking for it BEFORE you cancel the transaction"

His reply:

"I'm not sure what you're implying, but if you must know, I have lost several sheets that I listed, and had to pull several auctions that were ending this week also as a result. I have searched high and low for the past 3 days and nothing has turned up, which is very disturbing as I had them in my hands a week ago today. As I mentioned, there are renovations going on at my house, and my best guess is that one of my workers either accidentally threw them out somehow, or took them for himself. Either way I'm in a tough spot, and out hundreds of dollars. I do still have the Tomcat sheet."

Next thing I know that transaction was cancelled too, without ANY explanation to me and my money refunded.

I wonder how long it'll be before that Tomcat decal sheet re-surfaces on ebay from a different "seller" at a "different location"

He trades on ebay as "ptsixpac"

A little further to this story, here's the original decal sheet I won, being listed AGAIN for the 3RD time!!

1st time I won it, paid for it, then was told he "lost" it

2nd time he re-listed again, it was won by someone else.

3rd time for sale!!, (obviously the 2nd winner didn't pay up, so now it's for sale AGAIN!!)

Oh, he also blocked me from bidding on it a 2nd time when he re-listed it. My bid for it far exceeded the winning bidder, who didn't pay up!! GO FIGURE????...

I don't understand this. You bid and paid over $100(!) for each pair of decal sheets, I'd be doing cart-wheels if I sold a decal sheet for that much money. If you're saying he is relisting them then I don't see what his goal/agenda is in relisting them? Was he disappointed they only sold for $100+ and thinks they should be more?

What are the odds that a worker on his house renovation would arbitrarily throw something out, let alone decal sheets - or a worker stealing the sheet. Come on. That was pretty far-fetched scenerio to me.

At least you got your money back though without any issues.

That sheet you linked is located in Nashville, TN., USA. I've dealt with Nevin on several occasions buying/selling/trading and never had a problem.

Nevin lives in Canada so I don't know how that sheet is his.

Saraf,

I don't really understand where you are going with this thread. So far the only thing that you have shown us here is some of the ridiculous Ebay prices that some folks will pay for items/decals. As long as you didn't lose any money or paid for items you didn't receive, there is no bad trader here. For all you know this guy could be getting together with his buddies and bid shilling the bids up. In which case the only thing he is accomplishing by doing that is paying higher Ebay sell fees for whatever price he/they have gotten it up to. It is a good way to build up a feedback rating but it is sure expensive, if that is what he is doing. Does Ebay still have the non-performing seller complaint that can be filed against a seller who doesn't sell the item after the auction? My guess is that they do not, since Ebay has become more of a seller oriented operation. There are sellers on Ebay that have thousands and even tens of thousands of items listed at any one given time. I know when I was heavy into selling kits on Ebay, I could barely afford a couple of dozen items at one time, much less afford a couple of thousand. Anyway no bad trader here as far as I can see. Cheers!

Best Regards,

Ken Bailey

WOW! You have some serious anger issues! Not sure how I missed this thread until now, but I'm the one who happens to trade on eBay as 'ptsixpac'.

Not sure how a simple transaction turned into a big 'decal selling conspiracy theory' where I lose money and sales, but hey, some folks are just plain off their rocker. As DONG mentioned, none of the other listings for the same sheets 'Saraf' so kindly pointed out were my own, and were legitimate auctions held by other well known eBay sellers, that I'm sure were just trying to get in on some of the crazy bidding action that was happening over these sheets I listed.

I don't feel the need to explain myself to 'Saraf' any further, but want to post some additional information here for everyone else that he omitted from the eBay correspondence he posted, and neglected to mention before he wrote his very one-sided remarks, slandering my good name.

First of all, I was telling the truth from day one. We had some serious water damage at our place, and the house was completely torn up from floor to ceiling. The restoration company came in and boxed up/moved all of our belongings around the time I listed several dozen decal sheets on eBay. When it came time to mail out the sheets, there were about 6 that I couldn't find for the life of me. Searched high and low for three days, but couldn't find them. Had no clue where they went. With this explanation conveyed to all affected parties, I went ahead and refunded everyone that bought and paid for decal sheets, with the assurance that once they turned up, I would make good on the auctions, and discount the sheets for causing so much trouble. Everyone else was ok with this.

The issue was fully discussed, but 'Saraf' here would not accept this as truth, and became extremely difficult to deal with. I tried my best to make him happy, but it wasn't good enough. He adamantly insisted I keep looking. So, three days go by with no luck, and I tell him so. Trying to be a good seller, I end up refunding him for the sheet I misplaced and offered to send the F-14 sheet that had not been misplaced at a discount. After some more very 'mature' messages from 'Saraf', he went ahead and left negative feedback. It's too bad he was being so selective posting here, and didn't post up the rest of our eBay correspondence for all to see, as it puts the whole transaction in much better context. The remarks were extremely rude and belligerent to say the least, culminating with him calling me a 'lying POS'. And then he wonders why I cancelled the other transaction completely and blocked him from buying any further items from me??!! Seriously!! Of course I re-listed 'HIS' Tomcat sheet....

Steve Belanger summed it up best in his post...I was doing cart wheels over these auctions...why the hell would I back out?? There was no other agenda here folks...and sorry Steve, I couldn't think of another scenario! :dontknow:

The sheets did eventually turn up weeks later in one of the boxes the restoration company packed up. I contacted my buyers, and all but one (who ended up purchasing from one of the other eBay sellers) got their decal sheets in the end with a big fat discount. If 'Saraf' hadn't acted like a complete a** he would have received the same treatment in kind.

I have done countless great deals and trades both here and on eBay with all parties being more than satisfied, and have met some great people and friends along the way. My feedback, and good trader alerts speak for themselves. Thanks to everyone here who stood up for me. 'Saraf', you are one of the reasons I'm tired of this hobby...for God sakes man, grow up!
