Ham
I bought one of these in a box for $9.50 last week. Someone else paid $70.00 for the same kit in a bag?! They could have bought a CMR Mk. IX and had $20 left over. Clicky
JasonW
Well, I'll be darned. I've got two of those. I'd be willing to sell one to the second highest bidder in that auction for the outstanding low price of $60 plus shipping. Sometimes you just have to wonder..... Chuck1945
And its not even a particularly accurate 1/72 Spit IX either ...
611_sqd
I have ordered a Special Hobby [i think thats the brand] kit for around 30.00 and that was at a 40% discount and for me that was still pricey. Unless its a big 1/72 kit I just can't bring myself to spend a lot on them. Not when for that price you can start getting nice 1/48's. You'd need to be on drugs [or if your not then you should start] to pay 70.00 for a 1/72 Spit. Unless it was hand delivered by Halle Berry in her Die Another Day bikini. RCAFFAN
Someone should see if the sucker will pay $30 or so for their empty box so he can have a complete kit

Flyboyf18
Did someone say Halle Berry is delivering Spitfire kits?????? Where do I buy one??? Oh, I was a bit distracted by somebody paying $70 for a BAGGED Hase Spit IX!!??!!??!! OK I have bought a few of these from Evil Bay lately, but one I stopped bidding when the price was rapidly approaching $25!? It's a nice kit, yes there are some dimensional problems but it looks like a Spit when completed, and Hase is releasing one of their double kits with 2 inside now, for less than what he paid!!! Well I'd buy one for $70 if Halle delivered it and then stayed around to watch me build it!!! And I'd do a mess of scratch detailing in the cockpit just to prolong the build!!! Just my $00.

Rick in Maine
About the only way I know of to keep prices down is not to buy. I don't mean to be trite. I just haven't found anything else that works. :( Rick in Maine
Tom_Kness
Wow and I thought it was stupid when I saw one at a hobby shop for $25... I'll stick to the new Airfix one, you could have a squadron for that price.
waylandcool
And from looking at the bid hsitory, it was sitting at $9.50 with an hour left. Actually it was two idiots bidding against each other not just one. Some seller got really lucky on that auction.
JasonW
And from looking at the bid history, it was sitting at $9.50 with an hour left.Actually it was two idiots bidding against each other not just one. Some seller got really lucky on that auction. What is really amusing about this (or, disgusting if you're the guy that won) is that the losing bidder STOPPED when he got to the winning bidders max bid. Over $25 the bids go in $1 increments and the losing bidders last bid was $69.10. If the winner had bid over $70 his automatic bid would have been $70.10. His max bid was $70 and the other guy stopped just short, probably because he wasn't as serious. The winner is paying $70 due to someones sick sense of humor.Personally, I would NEVER put that kind of bid on something, it's an invitation to spend a lot of money foolishly. afspret
That is one of the reasons why I don't do shop there anymore. That and the fact I could never log back in after being away from the site for several months (even after I tried to change my log in name & pass word a couple of times). Steve N
Crikey! I've got a Hase VIII and IX in my Stash (basically the same kit) and I don't think I paid more than $10 for each. I think I found both on vendor tables at shows. SN
Abakan
Wow, checked my stash yesterday and of course I have one, still in the shrinkwrap.

Yeah I guess he will end up keeping that. I see 3 people are watching it in case it sells I guess. The last time I bought one was way back in the 80s and I think I paid $32 for it because the upper fuselage was cracked. Fixed with liquid cement and all good now. SOld it too for a little profit. However this auction is for the limited edition so it is special. Yeah right!!
