Recommended Posts

Good evening!

My first post in te Critic Corner..

My latest built which started over 3,5 years ago,I abonded it for 2 years and i decided to finish it.

This is the classic Hase kit with AIRES cockpit and Exhaust.

The whole painting process is Gunze H315 (FS16440) and the finishing cote Gunze also.

It has mistakes but tired me a lot so i Called it Off! :)/>/>

Here are some pics of the finished model, Don't hesitate to comment

Thank you in Advance!

George

Really nice build George! Wonderful subject and excellent finish. What I would suggest is to insist a bit more on the weathering adding contrast between panels. This way the upper surfaces will look more realistic. Remember that the Tomcat (as any other ship-borne jet) was operating under extreme conditions at sea resulting in heavy weathering. For the lower surfaces if you add streaks and leaks from the point of the engines and aft you give a point of interest to the observer. Also I would urge you to wash the landing gear it looks very clean.

Apart of the above a lovely looking Tomcat. Thanks for sharing

I need to slightly disagree with you on the topside weathering. The overall Gull Gray paint actually was pretty tough in that environment and didn't weather like the later tactical grays. The weathering on the model is actually a bit overdone for a Gull Gray scheme. You might see it look that way at the end of a cruise. The tactical grays were a whole different ballgame, and with those you would be correct about more weathering on the topside. I agree with you on some streaks along the bottom...and that it's a very nicely done model.
