  1. ive already thought about that.. 5000litre tank of ISO propanol there aswell, plus a never ending supply of wire, tapes, paddle pop sticks, rags, cardboard, bolts (nose weights) and high density foam (inlet, exhaust covers). Im discovering new stuff there every week i can use in this hobby. By the way, i tried out the EA last night on 2 bits of round scrap sprue about 1 inch long each, thinking that it would never bind together as strong as superglue, and ive just nearly busted my teeth trying to seperate the peices. WOW what a great bond!!! Their definetely mated for life now, i see what yo
  2. or i can just raid the ink store at work where we have a few 44 gallon drums of it laying about!! thanks for the reply Janne, most interesting, i'll go and experiment now with a few bits of scrap sprue. by the way, nice build coming along, following with interest  Josh
  3. hi Janne, i was just looking through your thread and noticed a couple of references to "ethylacetate". are you talking about solvent? if so how does this act as a glue, does it melt the plastic pieces together? im just wondering as i use E.A in my job for printing, to adjust drying rates for different liquid inks. if i use more than say, 10% for an extended period over the day it can swell then eventually melt my photopolymer plates. i also use it sometimes to clean some parts of the airbrush, and was interested to learn how you use it. thanks, Josh
  4. very nice Jack!! crisp and clean looking aircraft, well done. thanx for the tip about the hair, im gonna have to raid the wife's brush now... :D Josh
  5. yep another 1 here first time airbrusher, very happy with the CS's performance to date, very easy to use, even easier to strip down and clean. do it, you wont regret it. Josh
  6. Thanx luke, Well this is my first aircraft kit and there has been a few challenges for this novice. There were a few parts missing from the kit such as port and starbord light lenses, the small supports that attach from fuselage to intakes were too small so had to use stretched sprue. There were a few fit issues, esp the vert stabs to fuselage (see photos pg 1), had to use a bit of putty around nose and underneath to fill ugly seams, gear doors are very fiddly and are full of injector pin marks. If you want flaps down you'll have to muck around (i didnt as this is mainly OOB). The decals i
  7. Thanx Jeff, na luckily their just blu tacked on.
  8. interested spectator: Pretty subtle weathering as this was the C/O's aircraft, id imagine this to be a bit cleaner than the rest of the Sqn. Thanks for lookin, should be finished soon, Josh
  9. thanx guys for the kind comments. had my first meeting this afternoon with the dreaded "carpet monster", looked for ages to no avail, only to find the tiny gear leg on the TV cabinet after giving up. heres the latest update: 90% of decals on now, couple more to put on main gear doors. Weathered underside: Weathered top side: Gears on:
  10. cezary, check out this link from youtube, good stuff. CS is so easy to clean. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=yPXsyD5249k
  11. This is my first AB, and i pull my Eclispe CS apart after every session. Good habit to get into, and it only takes 5-10mins to clean up like new. If its gonna be a bit of time between different colours i shoot half a cup of Iso Prop through, then put enough solvent in the cup to cover the needle and let it sit until the next colour is ready. Stops it all from drying out and clogging up i figure. For final cleaning, i shoot a cup or two of Iso P through, then pull apart. Its actually very clean at this stage except the actual needle has a bit of smearing on it. I use cheap pipe cleaners from
  12. looks like a great start, am keen for more, as ive just scored one of these off ebay for $9.
  13. Gday all, progress has been slow, taking my time and enjoying it very much. Wells painted and washed landing gears painted and washed gear doors painted and washed Some decals added today Thanks for looking, more to follow. Josh
  14. Thanks Edgar and Harvs for your responses. Harvs, i saw the conversion kit last night and also read the review you attached. I think this is the way to go, although i may need more practice before attempting what looks like quite a difficult conversion for a novice. Thanks again, Josh
