infofrog
There is one ? If I got to cut into this model . Is there cutting tools I need ? I have only a #11 cutting blade and handle . Thanks Rick
11bee
Looking forward to your build. I've got the long discontinued full AH-1F set from Werners Wings (includes a complete re-scribed resin fuselage). Maybe your build will inspire me to start one myself. Are you using the WW decals or the ones in the kit?
infofrog
Yes He is sending those decals too . Rick

Thanks Rick Rick Stay away from cutting with #11. You can prescribe with #11 in order for your saw blade to follow the groove made but best is a scribber for that. Saw blades with various size teeth available in many hobby stores or on line. U should also get dyno tape to help u with scribbing. Good luck. Oliver

Tank
How about these two tools saw Tamiya saw My lTamiya 74091 Plastic Scriber IIink The excel saw will cut. I recommend the UMM saws. It will help when you get kits like Bronco kits or need to cut fine attachment points like around the 20mm barrels the excel blade is to big. It's the only item I use to remove parts. You can use the excel saw to remove some resin parts with large attachment points. http://umm-usa.com/onlinestore/product_info.php?products_id=37&osCsid=80631c314c9e8a4600e55f95de8fb616 You can also order the scriber. Don't work for UMM but happy customer and product user. HTH
RCAFFAN
I've used an exacto type very fine razor saw for years and believe it is an absolutely required tool. However I have never used it in one of their handles as I find it is better control wise to just hold it in your hand on its own. I have a few other saws that work better for specialized tasks such as small coping saw with jewelers blade and others with shaped blades that access small tight areas but the fine razor saw is an almost mandatory basic tool. It is also great for rescribing lines lost at the top of a fuselage say after filling and sanding as it is very easy to start it in the remaining line and draw it straight back up to recreate the line lost and ensue they meet up again at the top. Of course tape and a scriber work too but with practice the saw is a quick remedy if you are careful with a light touch.

These are from an AAHF AH-1F in Auburn, Alabama in 2010. In fact, this is the same cobra that went nose first into the dirt filming Top Gear Korea. RCAFFAN
I strongly suspect the machine did not have the big white "Experimental" on it while in service...Just a thought
rotorwash
I strongly suspect the machine did not have the big white "Experimental" on it while in service...Just a thought You are correct, of course. However, all the other controls, TSU, and colors are accurate. I have photos of Museum AH=-1Fs but they are all missing bits and pieces. Ray
Floyd S. Werner, Jr.
Like Ray's photos show it is black, flat black. Some seats could be Olive Drab like the mounted one shows. The seatbelts an off white color. That really is the only color in the cockpit besides yellow and red handles buttons and guards Floyd
11bee
Those are great interior pics. Anyone know what the strange looking bulls-eye gauge is (the one above the pilot's artificial horizon)? Never seen anything like it before. Don't think it's a radar warning receiver.
AH6C-SIP
John, That "bulleye" would be the Low Airspeed Indicator (LAI). The Air Data System (ADS) on this model AH-1 consisted of an Airspeed and Direction Sensor (AADS), a Low Airspeed Indicator (LAI) and an Electronic Processor Unit (EPU) which is mounted to the bulkhead aft of the pilots seat.. The ADS interfaces with the Fire Control Computer (FCC), Doppler Nav System, Radar Altimeter to enhance weapon accuracy. The AADS measured pitot and static pressures, the angles of the airflow relative to the helicopter and the free stream of air. Regards, GT
