Otto
Zvezda, ICM & Roden have released a lot of nice kits in the recent time. How about a much needed Mi-8/17 kit in 1/48. The KP 1/72 kit as old as it is is very nice but we need one in 1/48. There is even one in 1/35 I believe, so there is no excuse that "the kit will be too big" One of the most used Helies in the second and third world and it has been totally overlooked. Jennings
I've heard that an injection molded 1/48 Hip is coming, but not from whom or from where. I hope it's true, and I *really* hope it will be done in such a way as to allow for either an Mi-8 or an Mi-17 to be done. One of the most produced helicopters and one of the most widely used helicopters in history deserves a really nice 1/48 kit!
Otto
I hope that rumor is true and I hope it is NOT from one of the Chinese companies. If it is than weather there provisions for the 8 and 17 variants are irelavent, since it will not represent either ship anyway. I would LOVE to see it from one of the Russian or Ukrainian companies as listed in my first post. Any of the Japanese companies or Italeri would be unaffordable. Airfix would be nice but is not their "cup-o-tea" Ha Ha. Zvezda ICM Rodan would be the logical companies to take this on. Put me on the list for at least two. Both with Czech markings. After that a Yak-11, of course this is not the right section for that subject but I figured I would mention it anyway.
Jennings
Actually the Hobby Boss 1/72 Mi-8T/Mi-17 kits are the most accurate 1/72 kits there are. Very nicely done. They only represent the later variants though.
Lupusprimus
There was even a Russian kit in small print runs. The quality is rather poor. We have used it to build molds for our model in 1:48 scale. Edited August 30, 2015 by Lupusprimus
Otto
Just found, on another website that AMK has been researching the project. The question is, in what scale will they do it? Flankerman
Please note that Mi-17 isn't a 'version' - it is simply the export designation of the Mi-8MT. There are two main versions - the first generation Mi-8T (the export designation of which was the same - Mi-8T) and the second generation Mi-8MT (the export designation of which is Mi-17). There are of course dozens of variations of the second gen - solid noses, clamshells vs ramps etc - but they are all Mi-8MT/Mi-17 - one and the same thing. We spent ages explaining it all here :- http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=181255 Ken
Otto
I am aware of that fact. I am only interested in the Mi-17 designation aircraft with Czech markings. I have some eastern Express kits coming in 1/144. Should be here Monday or Tuesday. $14/ea Edited August 30, 2015 by Otto
Otto
There was even a Russian kit in small print runs. The quality is rather poor. We have used it to build molds for our model in 1:48 scale. I like that. I should do that with one of the 1/35 scale models for mine.
Otto
I just noticed that you are selling on eBay in both 1/48 and 1/35. I fly the next size up hellies which would require a 1/24 scale body. Any chance of you making something like a Cobra or Hind in that scale? Mi-17 or a Ch-34 or an H-19 would be nice too. I always wanted to make a AH-56 Cheyenne. Boy what a model that would make.
Lupusprimus
Otto, we (I and some other freaks) build hulls for the little RC helicopter. In 1:24 scale we have build Ka-26, OH-6A, Hughes 500C/D, MD 500E and a Ka-50. Your desired models, we will not build because they are too big in this scale.
