Excellent!

Question about 69-0269. On pics that I can find of this one with the 23rd TFS, it seems that the serail on the tail was much lighter than the SP tailcode. Almost like the color used on the Hill Grey scheme. I noticed this on a few other Euro One jets as well (69-0255 and 69-0270, for instance. Am I seeing this wrong and were they just faded?

Pete, I noticed that, too, but it doesn't seem to be that way in all pics. I have one shot of 269 where it appears normal black, but in most of my others, it does appear lighter. I'm not really sure on the exact answer. I am printing them in black. My thinking is that the modeler can always fade them himself if he decides they should be.

My personal guess-absent absolute knowledge--is that it either faded or was subject to differing angles making it appear lighter. However, that is just my guess. Does anyone know for sure?

They only got that one jet, iirc both Idaho and Nevada were to get the F-4G as the active duty units got out of the F-4 business completely. The plan changed and Idaho got its jets and the Air Force kept the 561st FS at Nellis instead of Nevada get them.

Jake, when did Reno fly G's, before or after they flew recce Phantoms?

During. :woot.gif:

Like Gary said, they only received a single airframe before plans were changed and they stayed in the recce business.
