Your Bug looks excellent.

We had a new '62 squareback my folks bought new while posted in Germany with the CDN army. Later my Mom got a 70 bug and later a 72 super beetle. Many years later my Dad had a Jetta as his last car. Plenty of fond memories. I liked the 62 squareback the most.

No other car from the 60's had a following like the Bug. From showroom/new/stock to used/modified/dune buggie it was an icon of the times.

I had a '64 Squareback. It must have been a gray market car because they weren't officially imported until '66. I put an 1835cc dual port motor with dual solex carbs in it. It was pretty fast from stoplight to stoplight, I would get a pretty good jump on much bigger, faster cars. The guy I bought it from had louvered the hood which was kind of ironic since it only served to make the trunk very wet. It did look cool thought. I eventually fiberglassed under the louvers to keep the rain out. That was a fun car, I wonder where it ended up?

Nice work on the bug!

Brings back fond memories. I had a '62 in this color that I bought when I went off to college. It was the perfect car for the task, as it was reliable, cheap to repair when it did fail, and cheap to operate--with gas at $1/gallon, it got me home for the weekend for about a buck...
