CD72036 - Piaggio P.180 Avanti

Recommended Posts

CD72036 will be a 1/72 decal sheet featuring various military and state operators of Piaggio P.180 Avanti. It will be designed for the upcoming A-Model kit.

You may ask why I may be designing a sheet for a relatively obscure Italian civil aircraft - because it is the coolest looking aircraft that has ever taken to the skies, that's why.

There will be markings for various Italian military users and others (Polish medical air rescue, etc.).

Interesting choice. I bought the resin kit a couple of years ago, and if the differences aren't too great they might fit. If you can make cheatlines slightly longer or provide blocks of decal for patching that would be grand.

I agree and will not miss this edition of yours. I am pretty excited about seeing what all the marking options will be about

...the only real good news I got today. Thank you for taking on this subject!

Earlier this morning, the kit appeared on Ebay for the first time - which tells me that it has just been released in Ukraine. Mine is on the way, and I will post my observations and first profiles as soon as I receive it.

Just curious if you are going to include an Avantair aircraft on your sheet?

Very cool! If you need Italian marking details give me a call! :thumbsup:/>

Of course - who else? ;-) I've already drawn quite a few, I will wait until I have the kit and choose among them.

Weird sounding critters. One was flying around the Burlington area a few years ago. Sounded like a circular saw being pushed hard into a sheet of plywood.

that's correct, noise is due to the fact exhaust fumes had to pass trought the propellers it is not due to the shape of the plane, if Piaggio will ever build a jet variant it would be very silent.

I've started building mine and will most likely do this one with OOB Italian Navy markings. I found out that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police had one, but just sold it bargain basement priced, 1.3 million!?! So I would love to do this bird it has swirly factory looking markings on the fuse & tail, no RCMP logos and is registered C-GFOX, so if all I could get was the reg letters I would be happy!!

Just my $00.05 worth.

Ok then, looks like it is time for me to order mine. Just a really nice looking aircraft.

As long as you have military markings Kursad I am in. Too bad they did not do it in 1/48 as it would go nice with the Learjet.

This sheet will be part of the August/September batch. The five options on this sheet are:

-Italian AF

-Italian Coast Guard

-Italian Army

-Polish Medical Air Rescue (SP-MXI)

-Pan Europeenne Air Service (F-HCPE)

Here is the final draft - I have yet to number the elements and adjust the colors a bit.
