Hi Doc, Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. They had a problem with hackers when you were trying to register. Please try again and hope to see you there. Gary
I've also attempted to contact them but the contact page goes nowhere. I even took a shot in the dark sending a generic email to admin at great war aviation dot com and it bounced. Sad really. If you read their posts you see they are lamenting the lack of registrations.
Hopefully somebody is a member of both there and here and sees this thread.

Gary,
Are you a member of that forum? I tried to register and it keeps telling me to type the letters in the picture but no picture appears. I click the request a new image button and still nothing. Tried the Listen to the letters option as well no sound.

They have at least two. I have laid eyes on both of them. Each year the 2nd Aviation Det. allows the local Vocational/Trade School to host a career fair for Jr High Kids. The event is held in one of their hangars so the aircraft are displaced for two days. Two Hueys were sitting on the tarmac next to the hangar.
I remember the date but I'm not old enough to remember the event. I, like most everybody else growing up in the 60s & 70s was fascinated by anything space related. I can't tell you the number of orbits my GI Joes made in their Mercury Capsule.
Here's a piece of old man trivia. Anybody else have the record albums of the early space program? I remember listening to record albums of the radio traffic between Mission Control and various orbiting ships.
Hey Jim, Aircraft are not the "Dark side" believe me. Cars are the Dark Side, Besides,I, like everybody else who started building in the 60's, built a TON of planes. We had three choices: Planes, Cars or Ships.
I can confirm that the 2nd Aviation Det at USMA West Point still has a couple. They fly over my house daily. In fact, one just passed over head as I'm typing this. Can't mistake that distinctive Whop Whop Whop.
