  1. I see an error in my previous post & it doesn't look like I can edit it. Regarding the statement: This detachment would be the only part of the unit that would go ashore during the ground assault attached to the I MEF/3rd MAW, while the other two detachments stayed afloat attached to the 4th MEB/1st MAW. It should read: This detachment would be the only part of the unit that would go ashore during the ground assault attached to the I MEF/3rd MAW, while the other two detachments stayed afloat attached to the 4th MEB/2nd MAW. 2nd MAW, not 1st MAW. Sorry about that! Just to update...
  2. RE: 269 kept the original tri-color camo. RE: 269 - standard tri-color - stayed in reserve for the most part HISTORICAL FACT for future reference... All of the unit's Whiskeys arrived in Dhahran by C5 in mid-August 1990. AH-1Ts & UH-1Ns arrived in-theater about a month later but remained on the Nassau. After Thanksgiving 1990, the Whiskeys were split into two detachments. One detachment went to the Raleigh.
