I see an error in my previous post & it doesn't look like I can edit it. Regarding the statement: This detachment would be the only part of the unit that would go ashore during the ground assault attached to the I MEF/3rd MAW, while the other two detachments stayed afloat attached to the 4th MEB/1st MAW. It should read: This detachment would be the only part of the unit that would go ashore during the ground assault attached to the I MEF/3rd MAW, while the other two detachments stayed afloat attached to the 4th MEB/2nd MAW. 2nd MAW, not 1st MAW.
