  1. Yes, regarding to the canopies differences Netz is right, the old Monogram kit has the right "long" canopy, but I have noticed the lack of bubble cross-section on it. I believe the Tamiya's modern F-16s canopies can be modified at hinges to YF's standarts. Good Luck. SouthViper
  2. The only two YF-16s had Escapac seats, I recommend using True Detail ones. The FSD F-16s used the Stencel seats, and Aires has gorgeous ones. Altought the old Monogram F-16 was really in essence an YF-16 , consider that the real YF-16s were 10% sized smaller . The Arii/Otaki kit of their "F-16" is in true the very best YF-16 to go , and this kit has the right nose for the Prototypes YF-16s. Obviously the Arii/Otaki is not so well detailed but has recessed panel lines, so I recommend using-robbing the Monogram one details for Landing Gear and Bays, tires, that's all ! Fr
  3. YES, Revell/Monogram/Hasegawa has shared the Deuce, among others like F-20, but I believe these boxes are now collector itens, meaning very expensive. MarioCapelli
  4. No problem, just sand a little each side controls walls. Also a little "hot water widened" in the cockpit tube may help. As said above You can sand the seat's bellow sides since when addapted in the tube no one else will know You have sanded it. Good Luck. MarioCapelli
  5. I have the Aires exhausts set (for use on my F-104S) and they are GREAT!! I do believe Aires measured the real engines and not "to kit fit" only and maybe this helps the Set to fit several kits not only Tamiya F-4E. Good Luck. MarioCapelli
  6. Be careful , the Deuce is still around for affordable prices and the last reissue from RevellG has a beautifull decal sheet that is worth for the kit's price. Eduard has a incredible "zoom" fret for F-102. Good Luck. MarioCapelli
  7. If You look for pics only just go to the "walkaround" link on the ARC page. If You are modelling in both 1/72 or 1/48 You have the choice of using Aires sets, both the "early short" and the "later long" exhausts . There is nothing better in the market for exhausts. Remember J-79 were used for several american aircrafts Phantom II, F-104, B-58, Vigilante , etc.. and sometimes if you not find the desired angle shot in one walkaround you can find it in another. Good Luck. MarioCapelli
  8. AN ARTISTIC FINISH is my vote since I am plasticmodeler, my ART is a plastic representation of the real thing, for what I do not use "real" paints on real metal frames and panels , no steel guns or engines, etc... For me Building a model is like painting an masterpiece ... like DaVinci, Monet, Taylor, saved the dued proportions... and YES... I know the differences between those Masters and me. Mario
  9. Hi Neil, Any chance for 1/48 ? Good Luck. MarioCapelli
  10. Hi, I think You will find something about at www.britmodeller.com Good Luck. Mario
  11. Try at "Fox 3 Studios" (e-mail : gmasher@netzero.net) with Mr.Gerry Asher has or will have this conversion for F-100s " Slick Chick" . Good Luck. MarioCapelli
  12. I think it is possible to use the Verlinden set for Tamiya kit, even being for A/B models. Exception for the Instruments Panel (IP) because that set cames with so much useful parts that I think it is indispensable. I suggest You to use the Waldron IP set because the Waldron sets are THE ONLY sets trully right to the scales ! All the others Aires, Avionix, Verlinden, etc... are intended to "fit the kit" only , not "true to scale" purposes. Good Luck. MarioCapelli
  13. Roll Models sells The Missing Link Models " Belly Gun Pack" -48023- in resin at $3,00 Good Luck. Brazboy
  14. No, it is some kind of optical illusion. The canopies on F-104 were straight, not bubble like F-16, F-15, etc... If You look at the pics following the glass canopies edges You will perceive no bobble edge. Good Luck. MarioCapelli
